Labor Day 2016 & Great Grandma turns 100!

This Labor Day weekend has been one big whirlwind!  We are home, settled, quiet and just hanging out.  We are all tired!

Saturday:
First Iowa football game.  I say it every year - it's fun for the guys and Iowa... but sometimes hate that Ryan is gone all of those Saturday's.  Yes, I could go with, but I don't want to be gone that much.  This first game was a big one for the Taylor's tho --- all the boys were going!

Ryan, Kayson, Blair, Tate, Mike, Duke, Bill and Colby headed over the Iowa City.  What a crew - and what good little memories for those boys.  That part is great to me... I truly think they all had a good time.  Kayson talked about all the 'plays' and other stuff for awhile once they got home and into Sunday.  I love that.
The boys!!

Meanwhile, us little ladies stuck around here.  Cora and Landry played baby dolls, fought with each other a little, and then played some more.  Those girls are BUSY!  But we did have a nice day.  We did lunch out, which is a challenge with a 2 year old!!  We shopped at Carter's a little.  Then more playing, a super nice rest out of Lanny (not so much out of Cora)...  and that was our day.

JeanAnn, Martina and Lanny headed to Creston Saturday night, so they could stay there... sleep better there hopefully.  The boys got home around 8:30.

Sunday:
Kayson slept in, which was much needed...  we got ourselves going, and headed down to Creston around 11:00.  Being that it was Labor Day - we typically get together with the Taylor's, but this weekend was even more special.  Great Grandma Ann turns 100 years old!  I mean - seriously!  This is amazing to me.  It's so darn special, and brings tears to my eyes.  Grandma Ann is such a great lady... and gave this family Grandma Janis and Uncle Jim.  They've produced some amazing people, and I'm so lucky to be a part of this... and know Great Grandma.  Seriously...  amazing.   So Sunday afternoon we held a open house party for Great Grandma.  It was a great party - and an awesome turn out.

Following that we went back to the farm to play.  It was a beautiful night (a little too windy for some of us), but we sat outside and hung out and talked.  The kids played hard... and were beyond tired by bedtime!  :)  Lots of fun tho.

The whole gang.  LOVE.

Grand kids, great grand kids AND great GREAT grand kids!

Monday:
We got up and at em this morning after a restless sleep.  I think Kayson slept well, but Cora was restless from 3:00 on... and was up from about 5:00 til about 6:15.  TERRIBLE.   We were off to be in the Labor Day parade in Diagonal.  Great Grandma was the Grand Marshall and all of us Taylor's were in the parade - we either walked or rode on the low-boy.  So fun!!!  We said we want to be the parade more often, cuz were were first, and we were done within 5 minutes!  haha.  But again, so fun, and memorable.  Love it. It turned into a warm Monday morning.

We headed back to the farm to have a quick left-over lunch...  kids played a little more, then we were on our way home.  Both kiddos slept, which was great.  They needed it.  They'll be heading to bed early tonight!  :)

It was a great weekend...  love that we make these memories, and I truly hope our kids know how special this all was.
