Memorial Day weekend - Mom & Boys day and Cora & Aylah day!

The long weekend came and went - fast!!  But I took an extra day, and I'm so thankful for that.
Tuesday was a great day -
It was a planned Mom & Boys day - Me and K, Matt & Rhonda, Hud & Jen and Ben & Lara.  We went up to Hummel's cabin - we golfed in the morning...  had pizza... the boys fished, and swam... and it was so much fun!!!
While I was there - Cora got to spend the day with Aylah!!  Aunt Tricia was still in town helping out, so Cora, Aylah and Trish hung out... and soon enough Hope was off for the summer too - I know they had fun because Cora was exhausted!!

Memorial Day weekend - Baseball tournament

It was a jam packed Memorial Day weekend!

Friday - Kayson and Ryan headed to KC - Royals game up first for them. Cora enjoyed some fun at Zoe's house right after school - the famous foam party!

Saturday - K and Ryan still in KC - they enjoyed the morning, then a couple games in the afternoon.  Cora and I went to Alli Jo's grad party, then got on the road.  We had a great ride, and got to the baseball games at perfect time.  Kayson did so well at both games Saturday - his bat was on fire, and that was so fun!!!

Saturday night we hung at the hotel - ordered pizza in, and hit the sack!

Sunday - up early for two morning baseball games.  And it was hot at 9:00 in the morning!  Wow!  But we had a good time... good experience for the boys.  Sunday after the games, the kids wanted to swim and hang out for a bit... then Cora, Ira, Kelsey and I headed back to DSM.  We wanted to get home!!  Some of the baseball team stuck around in KC - hit up TopGolf, so I know that was fun for them.  Ryan and K got home Monday afternoon.

BUSY BUSY.

Cora - Last day of 4th grade!

Oh 4th grade - it's been good...  so many things have happened in 4th grade for this girl.  School part is good - she's gotten more confident with math, she does great at reading and writing, and is helpful and kind.  I'd say that's a success.

The broken arm thing was a big hurdle for class - just because she was trying to manage that, and manage her worries at dance too.  Her teacher, Ms. DeMarco, was amazing... kind, helpful and always talked with Cora about things.  I appreciated that.  We also had an episode of bullying... Cora and friends were being bullied. It was disgusting and hurtful...  no kid should ever be treated like that, whether they are kidding or not.  It was handled, and again, thankful for the teachers and Principle.  And then most recently - girl drama.  Oh boy, I know this one won't end this year, but man, I'm ready for summer to be here and for Cora not to see some of those girls.  I know Cora is not perfect, but when there is a story daily about a few other girls - I'm over it.

So... here's to summer - and moving on to 5th grade!

Kayson - Last day of 8th grade!

How in the world did this happen?  This year went so fast!!  8th grade was an adjustment for Kayson - honestly.  I mean, he's a good student, but he is also pretty lazy!!!  We did have to get on him quite a bit regarding grades...  as this year was just a taste of what grades are really like.  Next year, as a freshman, those grades to go a GPA.  Kayson realizes that, and I am hopeful that next year, he will try harder.

Toughest class for him - English and Algebra I.

Best class - Choir.  ha.

Regardless, the year is over...  it's crazy.

I take this picture every year - beginning and end.  This year was the first year Kayson rolled his eyes at me.  Man, that is a true slap in the face that my kid is getting old!!  But he did it for me... and I hugged him tight afterwards.  ha.

Cora - Lost tooth #11 or 12??!!

This is funny to me... Cora has been keeping track of the teeth she has lost, and I thought I had been too.  But I feel she's right, and I've been wrong.  I originally thought this was #11... she's telling me it's #12!!  Regardless, she's loosing teeth left and right!!

Weekend - Baseball and CESOD Tryouts!

We aren't even finished with Cora's 3rd year, but we are trying out for the 4th year!  Crazy how that works... and how fast the season really went.

Last year at tryouts, we had a hard time...  nerves, wasn't feeling well/right...  But this year, she did well.  She was a little nervous, but she did great - she marched right in there and did her best.  This year, the Juniors had to put together a 30 second solo, that they choreographed.  She worked on it about a week - and got it down just right.  She did well - no help from me.

Baseball was this weekend as well...  I unfortunately had to miss the first game Saturday just due to running Cora.  But that game was a loss... and the second one that I saw, was a win.  A good win, the boys had to battle.  Unfortunately, Sunday was a terrible game.  We were quite embarrassed actually - the boys were NOT together, pitching was awful.  I felt bad, but man, we need to be better than that.  I know Kayson was disappointed.

The rest of the Sunday was pretty good.  Ryan slept most of the afternoon...  Kids and I hung out... the weather was gorgeous, I got my first sunburn of the year.  I took Boomer to the dog park, the kids and I went fishing (well, Kayson fished), Cora and I walked around.  Kayson did some driving too.

Cora - Lost tooth #10

Another tooth has fallen out for Cora - and in her sleep!  That's the best way!

No pictures, but she has another one that is loose too.

Cora - 4th Grade Field Trip

Earlier this week, I volunteered to chaperone the 4th grade field trip - we visited the State Historical Museum and the Iowa State Capitol.  It was a fun filled day...  and exhausting too!  But really nice...  I was able to meet a few other moms, and get to know a few others better... Cora had a good time with a different buddy at the Historical Museum...  and then we all stayed together at the Capitol.

It was fun... and I learned stuff too! I haven't been to those buildings in a really long time!
