Kayson 7th Grade Fall Conferences

Fall conferences are in full gear, already.  And it feels like Fall outside too!

7th Grade Social Studies - good meeting with the teacher, they've done a lot in the first couple months!  Kayson seems to be interested in Social Studies, so that helps.  And Mr. Sink seemed pleased with Kayson as a student, and kid.  Good meeting.

7th grade Pre-Algebra - another good meeting, and apparently I was emotional during it...  as Mr. Willman talked to us and Kayson, it was clear that he enjoyed Kayson, and especially hearing him say "for 8:30 in the morning, Kayson always has a smile on his face and is a good kid."  Wow.  I instantly had tears in my eyes.  It's wonderful hearing that...

As for the math part, K is doing well... definitely not his favorite subject, but he knows he needs to slow down on tests, and knows when to ask questions.

7th Grade Science - a fun meeting, if you will.  Kayson's science teacher is good friends with Blair and Martina, so that was fun...  seems like a nice guy and fun for Kayson.  As for Science class - Kayson seems to be doing well and likes the class.  They learn so many cool things (probably not cool things to Kayson, but as an adult - it's cool.)  So overall, another good meeting.

7th Grade Language Arts/English - our last meeting, and it was good.  I couldn't get a real feel for the teacher, probably not one of Kayson's favorites, but seems nice enough, and said Kayson is doing a good job  I think English has stepped up a bit from 5th to 6th to 7th...  just harder, just more to think about.

Overall, a great week of conferences.  We handled all of these online, which was nice... easy from home.  But all done, and we are proud of Kayson.  It seems to be that he does well in school, and is a good kid for the teachers.  And really - that's all we ask at this point.  We may have 'issues' with him at home or on the social aspect, but if he's a good, respectful, happy kid at school - we are doing something right.

Weekend - Low Key! & 5 years already

A low key weekend...  we barely knew what to do honestly!!

Unfortunately, the dreaded 5 year anniversary has come and gone of Mom passing.  Almost seems impossible.  I just can't believe it's been 5 years... so much has happened in 5 years, so much she has missed, and it just breaks my heart. So honestly, Saturday I was kind of sad...  just blah, and then by the evening, my anxiety was a little high.  I just hated knowing the day was passing and knowing she misses so much.  So I had a hard day...  but tried my best.

Sunday it literally rained all day... all day long.  With no breaks!  I can't remember the last time it rained all day like that.  So with that... we were bored.  Even Boomer was bored.  I did a few errands, which wasn't not fun in the rain, but then later in the afternoon, we took the kids to Lifetime to swim.  Ryan worked out, and I just sat.  I should have worked out too.  But the kids enjoyed that.

It was a low key weekend, and I'm glad we were all home together.  We needed that.

Now it's a new week, and a cold week.  I swear we missed "Fall" and have jumped to Winter already.  YUK.

Weekend

We had a fairly calm and quiet weekend, which was nice.  Now I wish I could have had another free day of just not working and being home!  Oh well.

Friday night we just hung out, it's been nice just being home. I've become such a homebody lately!!

Saturday - Ryan, Mike and Kayson were off to the Iowa game.  I'm so glad that K is interested in going and making those memories with his Dad and Papa.  It's been fun for him.  Anyway, they were gone all day - and Blair and Tate were at the game too, so they tailgated with them (and Duke and Scott too), so that made me happy!  Unfortunately, Iowa didn't play up to their new ranking... so it was a big bad loss!!  They got home around 9ish.

While the boys were gone, Cora and I hung out.  We got our nails done Saturday morning, and that was fun.  I'm so glad she likes to do stuff like that, with me!  We had lunch, then back out to do some errands.  She was going to have a friend over, but that kind of fell through, so instead, we just hung out at home, and it was great.  Saturday night our neighbor had a little get together, so we went to that... and I got to see a long time friend I hadn't seen in awhile, so that was fun.

Sunday we did Sunday School... dance... mowed... groceries... laundry... all the Sunday things.

Now it's Monday and we are all tired, and would have loved to just sit today.  I'm sitting, but working!!

Kayson made homemade pancakes last week - so good!!!

We baked a giant cookie... and it tasted terrible!  ha

This is Cora!!!  ha.

2021 DMMA Convention

Cora attended the DMMA (Dance Masters of Mid-America) convention this afternoon.  A full four hours of tap, ballet, jazz and hip hop!  I felt like this would be a great opportunity to get her into the convention 'scene' and understand what that is like.  It was close, and cheap!  So we did it.

She was with her age group (9-11), so she was only with one other girl from her Petite group, then the rest were girls from the Juniors and Teens...

I think it was a good chance for her to be around some of those older girls and just get that experience.  When I picked her up, she was definitely tired (I could see it in her eyes), and she was hungry!  4 hours of dancing with no breaks.  Wow.  Definitely different for her!!

Go Hawks!! Now ranked #2

Kayson, Ryan, Papa Mike and three other crazies went to the Iowa vs Penn State game Saturday.  They made a day out of it... and it was all worth it!!

First up - breakfast at Booneville Cafe, then off to Iowa City.  Kayson was ready for a busy day of laughing, and possibly some 'good or inappropriate' education from those guys!!  He had an absolute blast!!  Plus it was a huge win for the Hawks!!!

Some pics from the day!

Weekend & Alzheimer's Walk 2021

What a busy weekend.  Seriously.  I'm ready to sleep and watch shows on a weekend!!!!

Friday night we were able to 'chill' and just hang out.  That was nice, but honestly the night just goes so fast!

Saturday we got up super early and headed to Fort Dodge for the Alzheimer's Walk.  Again, decided to do in Fort Dodge cuz it's closer for Dad and just smaller...  which we enjoy.  However, this year was super small... not many people at all, which makes me sad.  Anyway, we did that... and it was nice.  We always have such a good time with my family - so many laughs and conversations going on, I always say "we are pretty funny!"

We went to Tricia's after the walk just so we could spend time together... then we headed home late afternoon.  We were pooped!

Sunday was another busy day -

Kids and I went to Sunday School... then back home to get Cora ready for dance...  she was off to dance for an hour and a half... I got groceries... Ryan and K mowed...  Cora then went to her friends out for a couple hours... I did laundry...  and cleaned a little... then we had family pictures taken.  Again, seriously - exhausted!!

Now it's Monday and I could use a big nap!  I'm guessing all of us could.
