Rainy Tuesday

It was a good day to stay home.

but it was a surprise...

I woke K up this morning around 6:20... and he was on fire!!  He has had a little cough, but no sign of anything else over the past week or so.  So I was super surprised to feel him this morning...  He was also pretty cranky and cried a lot...  so we just rocked for awhile.  We stayed home today and relaxed...  and his fever broke around 11 this morning.  He's been a pretty good boy... and took a great nap (I did too!).  Daddy got home a little bit ago, so they are eating and playing...

We got some much needed rain today too...  another good reason to be at home and just relax.

Weekend Update

First - so glad Ryan is home... and doesn't have to drive back to South Dakota for awhile.  Lord - that's a long 2 weeks without him.

We had a great weekend... and a big weekend for Kayson.  He got to stay with Papa Mike and Grandma JeanAnn for the first time - over night.  What a big boy!  He, of course, did great... and had fun.   But I do think he missed us when we returned...  he sat on both of our laps for awhile while waiting for lunch...  that was super nice!!

The reason he got to stay with the Taylor's was Ryan and I went over to Omaha to celebrate some friends of ours wedding...  Greg and Amelia were married a couple months ago in Ireland and had their reception this weekend.  We were really looking forward to getting away and seeing some old friends.  We had a really great time... literally just talking for hours!!

We got back home this afternoon... and K continued with his nap and so did Ryan and I.  Wow - we all were tired!  K slept a total of 3.5 hours, and Ryan and I slept a little over 2 hours!!  I guess partying takes a lot out of us!  ;)

Here are a few pics from the weekend!
Good friend, Holly and I  (it looks like we got 'crazy', but we didn't)!

2 minutes out of Creston - Thanks Papa & Grandma for wearing him out!
and our mis-matched child.  I spilled medicine on his shirt, so we just changed the top!

Sinuses, Back, Reed's, PTO

Well, once again, I'm fighting a sinus infection.  So annoying.  I'm also getting back to going to the chiropractor, which has been really helping my back...  and I'm actually kind of hoping she can help with my sinuses a little.  She says she can.  We'll see.  I have meds for the infection, but hoping that if I keep going to the chiropractor, she can get me adjusted enough to stop having these infections so often.  It's just annoying.  Period.

Ryan is in South Dakota again this week...  so K and I have been staying busy.  Tonight we went over to Adel to play with Corbin and Kipton, and of course, 'Aunt' Lacey.  We had a nice time...  played at the park, then back to their place for pizza and more playing.  The three boys actually did really well with each other...  all very BUSY boys, but in the end, it was a success.
I'm also taking some time away from work.  I need it.  To be honest, I just plain needed a break. I'm not doing anything exciting, just doing some things around the house.  I re-arranged Kayson's room today.  I'm not crazy about it, there's just not very many options for re-arranging...  but it's different and Kayson actually said something and liked it!  ha.  I've been doing a lot of cleaning, and tossed some things out too.  ha.

I'm wiped out tonight...  I think I'll go to bed!

Picture CatchUp

We had a nice weekend...  it was great having Ryan home.  Ryan was able to enjoy a round of golf with our neighbor friends, and then Saturday night we went to an I Cubs game with my family's church.  Kayson did pretty well.  It was a beautiful night, so that helped!  Today we've done this and that... and now Ryan is headed back to South Dakota.  I'm hoping, again, for a smooth and fast week for us.

Here are some pictures from the last couple days.

Roller coaster of a Day

Grrrr.... aawwwwwwwwwwwwww.... aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh...  can you hear me screaming?!?!
It's been another hell-of-a-day.  REALLY?  I say I'm done with the stressful days at work!!
Work was crazy today...  it was one of those days where everything I touched, it broke.  The projects I worked on, practically nothing went right the first time.  It just was tiring... and frustrating!

Picking up Kayson was by far my happiest moment today...  until we get home and once again, he tells me he wants to go back to daycare.  I really shouldn't be too sad about that comment - it's great that he loves daycare, however, I REALLY wanted him to like me tonight!  ;)

We also found out that Ryan is coming home tonight...  like midnight, late.  So since we had his truck at home, my neighbor helped me drop off his truck tonight... thanks Nielsen's.  So I'm happy about that...  but Kayson was not happy -- didn't understand why we were going to Daddy's work and not seeing Daddy.  I can't tell you how many different ways I tried to explain it to my upset little boy.  He cried and cried on the way home...  supper was had - however, he just wasn't really having it.  He was tired and sad.  Ryan says sometimes that he doesn't think Kayson misses him or talks about him when he's gone...  he's definitely wrong - Kayson MISSES DADDY TODAY!  Poor kid.

That's been my roller coaster of a day.  I'm wiped out!!

Tomorrow has got to be better, right?!?

and I haven't gotten my camera out all week.  Watch out Kayson - this weekend you'll be sick of the camera!  ;)

2 more days... C'mon Friday!

It's been a hell-of-a-week already.  But there is light at the end of the tunnel!
Work has been out of control overwhelming for me this week.  I'm working on some larger projects that literally have my head spinning.  I have a headache everyday and just ache...  I'm tired of thinking!!  Two of the projects are due by Friday - so I've already asked for a couple days off next week...  I need a break.

The light at the end of the tunnel is Friday night (hopefully around dinner time)...  K and I will be able to pick up Ryan.  I can hardly wait.

Tonight K & I (and Quincy & Murphy) played outside for a bit...  Kayson loves bubbles, not so much to chase them, it's more of him being a 'big' boy and blowing the bubbles... and might I add, making a complete mess!!  Good thing this is an OUTSIDE activity.  Anyway, he enjoys it, but I tell you what - Quincy absolutely goes NUTS for the bubbles.  That dog jumps and chases them like crazy.  I honestly should get it on video, it's so funny!  Huge plus about it - he's exhausted after it!  ha.  Murphy even got into it as well... chasing them a little.  And he's my timid, lazy dog.  ;)

K was asleep again by 8:00 tonight.  I sometimes wonder if that's too early, but when he's not fighting it and sleeps all night... I say, we are right on track.  He works hard everyday and is so busy, I figure we are doing something right when it comes to napping and sleeping!  ;)

I'm off to do more laundry and clean up the kitchen.

C'mon Friday!  ;)

Life List

Jessica --- I'm stealing your WONDERFUL idea.  I love it...  I love everything about it.

I've added a link (on the right) to what I'm calling my "Life List".  It's a list of things that I'd love to accomplish in my lifetime, starting now.  There is no time frame, and nothing is in particular order - it's just goals!  And I think it's SO neat!  Follow this as I hope to cross things off!

Our Saturday

We started our Saturday early today...  why, oh why, won't Kayson sleep in?!  ha.  K and I went in early to get my oil changed... I figured, I'd take him along so he could see how that all worked...  he thought it was pretty cool.  I told him he could pay, he said "OK!".  ;)

Mid morning we all went over to Adel for their Sweet Corn Festival and parade.  Kayson was all excited to see the firetrucks and tractors... waiting patiently... then the firetrucks arrive and start honking their horns...  Kayson freaked.  Cried and cried... and shook like he was scared to death.  He sure does throw us for a loop!  Finally he got over it and we moved on!  We met up with Lacey and Justin and their kiddos, we walked around a little and even got to see a helicopter up close and personal - Kayson even sat in it!  Whoo hoo... pretty cool!  We grabbed some lunch and walked a little more.  It was a beautiful day to be outside too!

We headed home and K didn't even make it 2 minutes out of Adel - asleep... then slept over 3 hours, which was great.  I enjoyed a massage this afternoon too...  (Side note - massages are great, however, afterwards, I really don't feel all that great and am super duper sore)...  tomorrow I should feel better though.

Tonight we all enjoyed a nice long walk - again, the weather was great.  We even have our windows open!

Here are a few pics from the Festival today.  Sad that it's Saturday night already...  ugh!

Beside the helicopter!
INSIDE the helicopter! He even sat in the chair!
This was what we experienced when the firetrucks were going by...  poor kid.

Hoping for...

some major 'quality' time with my little family this weekend.  Sunday mid-afternoon starts our dreadful couple weeks of Ryan being 7 hours away from Sunday til late Friday and then again the next Sunday through Friday.

We always survive and get through this busy season, but this one is always the hardest - knowing he is 7 hours away...  doesn't make my nerves ease up any...  he can't just run home if we need him.  I pray for safe travels and an 'easy' week for Kayson and me.

Here's to a couple days with my little family... plus some extras: I get to enjoy dinner with two great girlfriends tonight and a massage tomorrow... and Ryan gets some much needed time with Kayson (and me of course)!  ;)

Love them.

First 'Fight'

Our beautiful son was in a 'fight' today.  Just kidding...  however, when you see the picture, it DOES look like it was a fight.

I walked into daycare tonight and Jan (owner) pulled me aside...  telling me that Kayson was scratched by a friend after lunch.  They apparently were washing their hands and Kayson was next to his friend and all of the sudden, the friend took his hands and scratched Kayson across the cheeks and nose.

I mean, what do you do??  Of course, I instantly felt sick...  I felt bad for K, I feel bad for the friend.  Things happen like this... and it stinks for everyone involved.

I went to his room to get him...  he was happy to see me, and told me "Logan scratched my face Momma...  we were washing hands... "  He knows EXACTLY what happened.  Smart kid.

Anyway, he's fine, obviously...  our first war wounds.

Weekend = Good

The weekend is over already??  Grr!
We've had a nice weekend... the weather was great, and not too many meltdowns after my last post!  ha.

First time in a long time - Ryan and I actually watched a movie!  We watched "Just Go With It" on Friday night...  good flick!

Saturday we kept busy... playing hard, and I got to get away for a couple hours to enjoy a friend's baby shower.  Saturday late afternoon/evening, we spent some time with Niky, Scott, Brittlyn, Duke and Great-Grandma Janis and Great Papa Dick... and some others.  It was time to celebrate Brittlyn (and her cousin, Skylyr's) birthdays...  they had a great party planned of swimming and eating!  Kayson had a great time - doing just that - swimming and eating.  It wore him out!

Today we enjoyed a HyVee breakfast followed by our expensive bill of groceries!!  With the nice weather, we played hard then til lunch time, then napped (the boys did, I showered!)!!  I also got away this afternoon to do a photo shoot of an adorable 6 month little girl.  It was a good shoot... I'm anxious to dig into the images this week.

And to top off our evening, we got our first taste of sweet corn of the year!  Hmmm... it was GOooood!  We got K to try it too... he did like it, but didn't eat a lot of it, but he at least tried it and I'm including pictures, of course!

It was a nice weekend...  nice to spend some quality time with Ryan and K.

It was warm this afternoon - Kayson thought he needed to cool off his feet!
Relaxin'!

Meltdowns

I've been told (and know this deep down), that meltdowns are 'normal' for 2 1/2 year olds.  I still don't like them.  Kayson's been FAMOUS for meltdowns this week...  of course a week when Ryan is home... lovely!  ha.

It's been interesting...  Part of me thinks he's just tired, but I don't know.  When we come home from daycare, he wants quiet time and watches a movie.  I understand that - I want quiet time too!  ;)  Sometimes, tho, when he's watching a movie... or even if we are playing... he freaks out, just out of nowhere!  He'll start crying, hitting... telling me (or Daddy) to "Go away!"  REALLY?  We have tried compromising with him... tried talking through it...  tried walking away...  it's typically a 5 minute ordeal.  Again 4 minutes too long for us!  He's just pushing our buttons... we know it...  2 1/2 year old little, smart and stubborn boy.  Gotta love him.  ;)

With all of that...  he continues to eat really well (actually trying some newer things) and sleep like a champ.  So I think he IS tired and just acting out?  But when he has meltdowns at 5:30 in the afternoon... that makes for a long evening!

I keep a 'journal' (in addition to this blog), of all of Kayson's milestones and quirks, this meltdown thing is in red...  meaning something that I don't like, or is/was a challenge for us!  Teehehe.

A little more comfy

A while back, my parents brought down some old carpet for us to put in our basement...  Tonight we got it all cut up and in a nice square to cover up a big area of the basement.  It looks really nice... and already makes it feel more comfy down there.

A pic from my phone:
