Accidents/Weekend

Over the past 2 weeks, Kayson's been having potty accidents at daycare.  Wow, this is frustrating... and disappointing.  All of the accidents have been him waking up from his nap early because he's peed in his pants during nap.  Now this honestly throws me for a loop, simply because daycare naps are MAYBE a total of 2 hours, if we are lucky... and naps at home on weekend are mostly 3 hours and he never has an accident... and sometimes waits another hour after waking to go potty!  I don't understand it...  and it makes me sad...

We tried talking with him...  we think he's listening, then we get him talking/asking about something completely different!  ha.  Typical!  So...  I guess I don't know what to do...  I think either Ryan or I will talk with the teachers and see what they think is happening...  cuz I'm at a loss!

---------------------------
I realized I didn't write about our weekend...  and as of right now, that seems like forever ago!  The days and nights just go so fast lately!

Saturday we did this and that around the house... and also was lucky enough to let Kayson swim at the hotel Mike & JeanAnn were staying at.  He loved it...  it was a nice change and it wore him out!  :)  Saturday evening we went out with some friends/neighbors for a neighbor's birthday... dinner and then to a bar.  The bar outing was a surprise for our friend, and it was a success!  She had a wonderful time, and so did everyone else.  Kayson was luck enough to play with Colleen, Mike & Cali...  he did great!

Sunday was a productive day around the house, for me!  I did lots of cleaning and putting things away...  Kayson and I played hard all morning, then a nice nap was taken by him...

Again, a weekend is over...  it's crazy how fast weekends go... and even the weekdays are going fast too.

More to come - we have another busy weekend ahead of us...  hoping for a potty accident free rest of the week.  Have a good one!

Weekend in Pictures

I'll just show the weekend in pictures...  I should have gotten some pictures of the meltdowns that we had...  I mean, you can't possibly think that Kayson's this much of an angel all the time!??!  :)

Don't ask...  ha.

Do you see the faint square that he drew!?!?  He's getting SO good at them!
Legos, Football AND Mickey Mouse hat...  everything all at once with him!
And some down time - Movies.

Me/Baby & Belly Photo

How far along: 15 weeks
Total Weight Gain: 3 lbs
Size and Growth of Baby: Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple).
Maternity Clothes: Regular jeans/pants are uncomfortable - but maternity pants/jeans are HUGE.  I'm really frustrated!!  Can I wear sweats to work!?!?
Sleep: Good - I'm sleepy!
Movement:  I think I can say YES to this!  I'm obviously not stop with Kayson during the day (weekends), and Friday evening after his bedtime, I was just sitting and I really felt some movement...  it almost is uncomfortable (fast and jittery), but also very cool.  And tonight when I was singing songs to Kayson, the baby was moving... probably telling me to stop!  :)
Food Cravings:  I'll eat about anything... and Chips & Salsa!  :)
OTHER: Doc says for my headaches to try a little caffeine.  I did try half a can of Dr. Pepper Saturday afternoon...  it seemed to 'dull' the headache.

And enjoy the 15 week Belly Photo.  I'm not crazy about the whole 'skin' thing, but I think it gives a better idea than just with a tank.

March 19

March 19 is the day we have our anatomy ultrasound for the baby...  I'm anxious, excited and nervous.  I left today's appointment (which was 2 minutes long - love those!) and just teared up...  not sure why, besides the fact that my emotions are on a roller-coaster ride.  I'm ready to know and be able to explain to Kayson a little more if he will have a brother or a sister.  Those are the exciting things!  Then you have the part where the ultrasound tech will measure everything possible on this baby...  that's what makes me nervous.  I just pray that this baby is growing as he/she should and will be healthy.

One thing I'm going to add to my "Me/Baby" entries is:
What do I miss?  Right now (or more like the last couple evenings), I miss sleeping on my tummy.  My back/neck have been doing SO well, but now my tummy is just getting a little too big to sleep on it...  bummer!

So come March 19, there will be a big announcement from our family!

Food

Remember this saying from awhile ago (and according to Baby Center) - "Having a 3-year-old can make you proud and completely nuts all at the same time."

Again, we are right on with the 'making us completely nuts' part!  :)

For exactly 9 days, we have been trying to teach Kayson that what Mommy makes for supper, is what he eats.  No excuses, no 'catering' to him.  I don't know if this was originally our fault from when he turned 1 and started eating table food (and we didn't really force it/we catered to him)... or if it's just the fact that he's a little picky eater?  Either way, we are trying to adjust this and hopefully have a child that will eat what I make.  There's obviously things that he WILL eat (the normal - spaghetti, shells/cheese, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets)...  and that's about it.  We obviously can't have those items all the time...

I'm realizing I'm rambling...  ha.

Anyway, we are struggling - BIG TIME!  For exactly 9 days, he pretty much has not ate supper for us at all.  You would think he's starving.  But I guess he's not.  He eats breakfast for us really well, so I guess that's good...  and he eats every last drop of food at daycare, plus seconds sometimes.  We are super pleased with that...  but we just wish he would eat for us at home.

What can we do?  What advice is out there?  (I feel like I've read and read...)  I know these things are normal, but I really don't want a 10 year old that will literally only eat 3 things.  I don't want that at all!!

Since starting this 'getting him to eat what I make' - I said after day 3, "I can't wait til he eats us out of the house!"

Weekend and Me/Baby

We went up to Clarion Friday night through Saturday night...  Two of my nieces, Eden & Lindsay, were going to play in a Volleyball tournament in Clarion...  so we figured it would be an easy time to get home and spend some time there.

We did our usual thing - just played and played.  Kayson plays hard.  WOW.  When we were at the tournament, it was during his nap time, but we kept him up...  we did EVERYTHING to keep him going...  and he did - big thank you to Lil Ryan for playing so hard with him for over 4 hours.  They ran and ran and played so well.  By 5:30 the tourny was over, we ALL WERE TIRED.  We had a quick supper, then headed home.  K slept the whole way home.

Here are a few pictures:
Playing with some old toys at Papa & Grandma's
Juice Box.  YUK.  ha.  One way to keep him going a little longer.
Playing VB!
Again, anything to keep him going!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How far along: 14 weeks
Total Weight Gain: 3 lbs
Size and Growth of Baby: Baby is measuring around 3 1/2 inches and is about 1 1/2 ounces.  He/She can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his/her thumb!
Maternity Clothes: Some pants/jeans still work, but not many.  I have pulled out my tote of maternity clothes - started washing them and sorting.  Most are way too big to wear now, so I'm kind of stuck in the middle!  Hope people don't mind the saggy butt for a little bit!  ha.  :)
Sleep: Pretty good actually!
Movement:  None
Food Cravings:  Food is tasting really good now...  I'm completely over the nauseousness, so I'm thrilled.  Almost every night I eat vanilla ice cream and strawberries.  (Same craving as when I was pregnant with Kayson!)
OTHER: Definitely showing (no pictures yet, sorry)!  I get headaches quite a bit and still could take a nap around 2:00 every day!

Telling Kayson

Tonight we sat Kayson down and told him that there was going to be an addition to our family.  I explained that right now there are three of us (Mommy, Daddy & Kayson), and soon there will be four of us.  I showed him my tummy and we explained that I'm growing a baby in my tummy... and that baby will be his brother or sister.  He seemed excited... he asked some questions - mostly if Daddy wanted a baby in his tummy!  :)  He did say that he wanted Mommy to have his baby and that I will have Kayson's baby.  Too cute. We talked about how much the baby is going to love him just as much as Mommy and Daddy love him.  (Right now my biggest concern is making sure that he knows how much we love him and how important he is to us... and that he will not be replaced, a baby is just an addition to the family).

I'm glad that we told him...  and I think it went well.  We'll just slowly keep talking about the baby and hopefully Kayson will continue showing interest and asking questions...

I'm looking forward to the next steps for Kayson.  He'll be a great big brother.  I love him so much.

We got some SNOW

It snowed today...  snowed pretty much all day.  The heavy, wet type of snow!  I have to say, it was really pretty!

This morning Ryan went into work for several hours, meanwhile, I decided to get out and start our day.  Kayson and I went to Barnes & Noble - we spent about an hour there...  reading through books, he'd sit on the floor and flip through books, then played a little too.  (They have a train set there that he likes)  It was very nice... not busy at all, and he was so good.  We did one more errand while we were at the mall, then picked up a cookie for a snack, simply because I was starving!  :)  Lunch was had at home, then Kayson took a 3.5 hour nap!!  I must have worn him out at the book store!  I snoozed a little, and was pretty lazy most of the afternoon actually...

Then after nap, we hit the snow!  Ryan snow-blowed the drive way and a couple neighbors drives too...  Kayson and I played a little outside.  Kayson scooped snow with his little shovel, he helped Daddy a little... and just used his imagination a little too.  We were out for about 40 minutes, then he tells me "My hands hurt."...  they were cold and hurt!  Poor thing.  So we headed back in...  It was nice to get out a little... something different!

An evening in was had... and bed is coming early (for me!)  :)  Glad we got some snow so Kayson could play!

Giggling and Random

  • I've got the giggles today... not sure why, maybe because I'm lacking sleep!  ha.  :)  Or maybe cuz a friend of mine totally makes me laugh at just random times.  This is a good feeling though!
  • So something interesting I just learned --- I finally learned the baby's 'turnover day' in the pregnancy.  Meaning - what day does baby turn 12 weeks, 13 weeks, etc...  well, I originally thought it was Thursdays (so today), however, I was wrong.  It's Sundays!  So I thought today baby turned 12 weeks, but actually Sunday baby turns 13 weeks!  I'm a little further along than I thought!  ha.
  • I get my hairs cut this afternoon...  it needs it.  I'm keeping it long, cuz I've gotten a TON of compliments on it, and it's actually easier to do... and I can pull it up!  (Which I do EVERY NIGHT!)
  • I announced the pregnancy on Facebook last night...  was hesitant to, and wasn't sure if Ryan really wanted me to, but I did...  and of course, we got such nice words...  makes it worth it.  :)  I know a lot of people are very happy for us.
  • We are supposed to get snow this weekend...  We have no plans, and I actually wouldn't mind being 'snowed-in'.  ha.  Plus if it isn't too bitter cold, we could get Kayson out in the snow.  He would LOVE that.
  • Kayson is doing well...  still has a nasty cough, which really stinks, but he's in much better spirits.  Miss Jenny at daycare says the cough is just around all the kids...  hard to really get away from it.  I'm just glad we are over the fever stuff...  a weekend at home will do some good, I hope!
  • I'm getting anxious to start looking for baby furniture.  I don't remember how far along I was with Kayson when we started looking...  have no idea!  But I'm antsy.  and even more antsy to find out the gender.  :)
