Big Boy!

Today was Kayson's 4 month checkup... little did he know while he is cooing and smiling and 'talking' with his friend, Grant, at daycare - he will soon be poked (literally) by a nurse. We head to the doctors office, to meet Daddy - everything goes well - he gets measured and weighed, then it's time to wait. We talk with Dr. Spinelli (who talks REALLY really fast), then the shots come. I made Daddy stand and hold Kayson's hands... I did it last time! ha. No tears for me, but big crocodile tears from Kayson... and a little of that 'no breathing' time. He did great though (the big cry lasted about 15 seconds), even though it was feeding time, we got home (the tramatic appointment knocked him out for awhile), then we ate. Now we just hope that there's no reactions!

Here are his stats:
16 lbs 6 oz (80%)
25 3/4 in (80%)

That's right - BIG BOY. :)

Saturday (the 25th) was technically his 4 month birthday... I can't believe 4 months has passed. Part of the time has dragged on, but most of the time has just flown by. I still think - "Ryan & I were driving to the hospital at 3:00 in the morning on Christmas Day to have our son" - what an amazing/overwhelming feeling! We are so proud and blessed!!

Real Quick

I've never been more anxious for a weekend in a long time... we have NO plans - nothing set in stone, nothing on the calendar, except whatever happens. I love those types of weekends (or just days!) It'll be nice to be with my 'little' family and just enjoy the weekend. I can't wait to snuggle with Kayson AND Ryan. :)

Off to enjoy my lunch - OUTSIDE with friends!

Random Thoughts

Had a great evening tonight - had a 'girls' dinner with some of my volleyball friends. We try to get together about once a month - TRY, and this month it was successful! We always have a nice time - always catch up and just have some funny stories. It was nice to get out for a couple hours - I even sucked down a strawberry daiquiri! ha.

Ryan & Kayson hung out while I was gone... I came home to Kayson snoozing on Ryan's chest. Check out this picture - doesn't he look huge?!?! I think so! He's just really starting to fill out and it makes me sad - what a big boy.

I took some photos of 8 week old twins about a week ago - I forgot how small babies can be - and they were tiny!! Twin boys - Kohen & Drake... sweet little things. Here's a sneak peak. Aren't they adorable!? and completely do not look alike! Too cute!

I'm just catching up on some random things now... Ryan has tomorrow off - going golfing - going to be a great day for that! Bye for now!

Mr. & Mrs. Taylor (and not Ryan & Me)

Blair & Martina got married Saturday, April 18... it was a perfect day. We were concerned the rain was going to ruin some photos for outdoors, but it ended up being just right. I do know a little about photography - and cloudy is the best day to take pictures, so the photographers were thrilled and I'm sure the images were just right.

The day started early - 7:15 was when we needed to meet in the hotel lobby to head to the salon. Yes, 7:15. I was up early (5:30) - I just didn't sleep well at all - mostly because my head was racing thinking of all the things that were going to happen on Saturday and thinking about all the things we couldn't forget for Kayson and myself... and another pain in the butt was the damn pillows at the hotel. They might as well not even have had pillows!! ha. Anywho - the salon session went well - we all had a great time, Martina had some nerves kick in, but overall, she did great and looked absolutely beautiful! She was anxious to see Blair (I remember that exact feeling - that's all I wanted to do - see Ryan on our wedding day!) Then it was back to the church to get Mart dressed and off to see her groom. The rest of us bridesmaids got ourselves ready and then it was picture time... everything went well - seemed to be flawless and simple. The time flew by... ceremony was great, pictures & bus was fun after the ceremony (although, I need to add that Ryan now agrees with me - we are getting too old for this stuff!). We did have fun on the bus - but we just realized that things change... I've known and felt this since Kayson was born, but I think it hit Ryan a little more while we were on the bus. Too funny! The wedding reception was gorgeous - decorated perfectly - filled with all the people that love and adore Blair & Mart.

Kayson did great during the entire day -- thank goodness he's a good baby - being held almost all day long (which he's not a big fan of!) and just being tossled around all day. My parents came and stayed with Kayson in the hotel room while we celebrated at the reception... That was so much easier having them there to take care of him. Plus he really needed some quiet time and time to kick and play like he normally does. Kayson slept great for us Saturday night!! A whopping 9 hours!! WHOHOO! He was tired too!!

Now it's back to normalcy... laundry and house cleaning was our job for Sunday night. We were all tired and just ready for bed (a comfy bed!).

Congrats again to Mr. & Mrs. Blair Taylor!! YEA!

Here's a picture of me & the blushing Bride! and another with Friend, Beth.

Coming up...

We have a big weekend ahead of us... Blair & Martina get hitched! We will be spending the weekend up in Ames - Friday afternoon through Sunday - it will be a great time, once we are there!! It's the process BEFORE getting there that is stressful! (at least for me.) My mind is literally just racing about the things that I need to do around the house, things we need to take with us, things we need to pack and things we CANNOT forget! The list goes on and on! The main thing I'm concerned about is making sure we have everything for Kayson - being away from home for 2 full nights is a challenge when you have a little one. He's such a good baby, so I know HE will be fine - it's me that does the worrying! (imagine that!) I need to think of all the things that we would do and use on a normal day, and all of that needs to be packed up! Load up the Tahoe!! :)

I am really looking forward to Blair & Mart's wedding day - they are a great couple that compliment each other very well. Blair will be a proud Groom and Martina will be a beautiful Bride... they both have wonderful friends & family (of course) that will celebrate with them. It'll be a day to remember!!

I'll post pictures next week!

Another weekend...

Another weekend has gone and went - where does the time go!?!? We had a nice (busy) Easter weekend. We saw both sides of the family - Taylor's on Saturday for lunch, Hardy's for Easter dinner. No Easter bunny, but we did have an Easter Egg hunt (minus Kayson searching!). Ashley, 'little' Ryan, Lindsay, Hope & Eden had a great time searching... 'big' Ryan & I did the hiding - of course, I tried to make it fairly easy, but Ryan left a couple that were hard to find. That's the fun in it!!

I do have to say Easter is a funny 'holiday' - meaning, you never know what the weather will be like - but it seems to be that all little girls wear the pastel little dresses, no matter if it's 70 degrees, or 30!! I think it was about 40 degrees in Clarion and all the cute little dresses were covered with winter coats!! Too funny.

Here's a picture of all the Hardy grandkids. Finally a new picture - everyone is growing up so fast!!

Tired?

Tired - that's a word that's used a lot around our household, or at least a word that I think about A LOT! Mornings are the hardest - just getting out of bed - especially when Kayson's isn't up needing us - why get out of bed?!? When I really think about it - I actually shouldn't be THAT tired. I mean, our son does sleep anywhere from 8 to 9 hours at night! How lucky are we!??! However, no matter if we sleep from 10ish til 6ish - we still have to just go on our days like we use to before Kayson. It's funny to think - we now officially will be tired for the rest of our lives!!

I've said this from the day that Kayson slept through the night - he definitely gets his sleeping habits from his Daddy. Ryan can take a 'nap' of 3 hours, my naps consist of just dozing off - b/c it takes me nearly 20 minutes to actually fall asleep! My problem is that I can't sit still!!! Even if I'm on the computer (like now), or doing scrapbooking, or 'trying' to watch TV - I'm constantly up and doing something else at the same time... antsy is what I call it! I get that from my mother!

So today (or right now), I'm not that tired - I've got my 'second wind' for the night. Kayson might be working on dozing off, Ryan is getting his hair cut, and I have a list of things that I can do around the house... so I'm off!

Getting old

Saturday night were the Bachelor & Bachelorette parties for Blair & Martina. I'm the Matron of Honor for Mart - (totally shocked when she asked me, but also very flattered). When I got to thinking we needed to start planning a bachelorette party, I got nervous... I'm not good at stuff like that - and knowing Kayson would be in our lives by then, I was really nervous - how would I plan something!!?!? Well - Martina has some wonderful friends -- and one in particular, Beth, has been a real gem! I spoke with her and told her that I'd really appreciate it if she would kind of take the lead with the planning... (I would help when I could & pay for anything) - she was all for it! And she did a fabulous job! :)

We did dinner out at Champp's, then back to the hotel room for gifts & games, then it would be on to the bars. When gifts & games were over - (which was around 11 pm), I was wiped out already!! I forgo ed the bar hopping and went home to get my son.

How things change!??! and man, I felt old!! I've never been a big drinker, but now that Kayson is here - things just change! And I have realized that I had no idea how life would change until Kayson... I use to think that things wouldn't really change, but they do - and all for the better. Ryan & I are just more responsible and 'into' each other and our new 'family'. I could talk til I'm blue in the face about being a parent, but until you experience it yourself, you'll never truly understand. It's amazing.

My many, many wishes to Martina & Blair -- they are blessed to have each other and I pray & hope that they will someday experience what 'getting old' feels like after they have had babies!! :)

(Here's a picture of Mart enjoying her evening - and a pair of boxers I got for her! Perfectly personalized just for Martina!)

"Favorite Baby"

"Favorite Baby" -- Those are the words I heard this morning from Kayson's daycare teacher, Becky. Wow - how those few words really make a Mom smile and ease nerves. It's good to know that Kayson is a good baby for Becky & Nicole. He's a good baby for Ryan & I, so I guess I just assumed he would be for anyone else... but to actually hear it (from strangers), was wonderful. Everytime I go into his daycare room, whether it's the morning or afternoon shift - every baby is crying except for Kayson! No wonder they like him! haha. Becky said this morning that he doesn't fuss when he has a poopy diaper, doesn't fuss when he wakes from naps -- he only fusses when he's hungry. That's my boy! He's a growing boy - and boy, does he like to eat!
