Basketball wrap up!

I've been terrible about updating basketball stuff...  Kayson was busy this winter with club/travel ball - All Iowa Attack and 8th grade school ball.  I feel each 'team' improved but also had some bad days!  That's 14 year olds right?

AIA went well - again, lots of ups and downs, but Kayson improved, and ended up playing in more games.  Yes, he had turnovers, but he improved on his shot, and his awareness.

8th grade basketball was interesting!  Again, ups and downs, but it was fun to get to know some of the kids and their parents...  there are a few great players, and hopefully we will see them down the road (and hope Kayson continues with basketball too).  I think he enjoyed the team...  as much as a 14 year old will show me excitement!

2023 Revolution Talent competition (#1)

We have our first dance competition in the books!

It was a great schedule, great weekend, great time.  I'm so freaking proud of Cora and her friends.  Cora did great - she shines on that stage, no one would ever know she's had anxiety or worries about her arm.  I love that, but also it hurts to know that she is hurting deep down...  but we are fighting through it.  She did great.

I lost track of all the awards, but all her dances did well!!

with our 2nd favorite Cora!

So sweet of friend, Quinn to come!!

with Kelsey & Abi!

Thank you Aunt Niky & Uncle Scott

SpongeBob fun!

with Cora's favorite - Alivia and her mom photo bombing!

Cora - PT Part 2

Cora has had a total of 5 PT sessions with Hannah.  Each time, Cora seems to be more and more comfortable, and just does everything that Hannah asks her to.  Hannah is very good with Cora - and talks with her and shows her exercises and stretches that will help with some flexibility, as well as easing into back bends.

We will go one more time to PT as a follow up, and then we will see how things go.  I'm unsure the 'rules' to this, if we are then just done, or if we can come back if need be.  Regardless, this has been a huge help, and I know I have appreciated all of this.  I can see a difference in Cora already...  we just need to continue and get her past those nerves on Wednesday nights!!!

Cora - Lost tooth #9

This girl!! It's been a long time since the last loose tooth!

Cora told us about 2 weeks ago that she had a loose tooth... and she really never mentioned it again!  Then yesterday, I picked her up from school and she said "Guess what!? I lost my tooth!!"  She showed me the little treasure chest that the school gives the kids... and that tooth was in there!  So fun!  I was proud of Cora for pulling this out on her own - AT school!

Kayson - 14 year old stats

Yet another appointment - 14 year old well check for Kayson.  I can't believe it.

Stats:

5' 9"

116 lbs.

I don't have percentages, but he's grown.  He grew a couple inches, and also gained quite a bit in a year.

Dr. Beebe talked to Kayson about his passing out episodes - reminding him to drink lots of water (at least 60 oz. a day), as well as getting a full glass of milk in at least twice a day.  I know he doesn't do the milk, but the water intake has improved.

Things were good... and it was a good appointment.  We enjoy Dr. Beebe.

Cora - Physical Therapy

After so many months of dealing with Cora's nervousness, we are finally seeing a Physical Therapist.  We know we totally should have done this months ago...  and to be brutally honest, we just took the doctor's word for it - "no, she doesn't need physical therapy".  Well unfortunately, she did...  and now we aren't only doing PT, but we are doing mental therapy as well.  The girl is scared to death.

So...  we've done two sessions of PT already.  First one was getting to know the PT, and the PT getting to know Cora.  Cora was very nervous, and scared - lots of tears, but she fought through it.  The PT was very kind and helpful.  For now, Cora is to participate in tumbling, but only certain movements.  We are trying to strengthen her arm, shoulders and her mind.

Today we had her second session - and it went well.  Cora was much more relaxed, and the PT did a electrode therapy on Cora.  It was very cool... and I think it worked well.  She did some more exercises and other things to strengthen.  I'm very pleased, and I just continue to pray that Cora's nerves ease up with tumbling.
