Weekend

Yet another busy weekend... but we got some relaxing in too.

Friday night while Cora was at camp with Grandma, and Kayson was wrapping up VBS - Ryan and I met Hope and Logan for supper.  Oh man, it was so nice to sit and talk with them with no Cora distractions.  :)  We had a good couple hours with them... K got home and was able to hang with them a little too.  Good night.

Saturday:
Again, while Cora was gone...  we just fiddled around home for a while... then decided to go to the pool.  Unfortunately, we got there, and swam for about 20 minutes... then the weather turned rainy!!  Kind of bummed.  We grabbed lunch, then back home to just hang out.  Of course, once the weather passed... it turned super hot and sunny!!

I did some stuff around the house - ended up re-arranging K's room, just for fun.  Got it all cleaned and organized, which was nice.  Kayson ended up going to Taste of Hope with Hudsen and family.  So our house was super quiet for a couple hours Saturday!!  It was great. ha.

Once Cora got home and settled... I did some laundry and we just hung out.  Kayson got home and was pooped too.  We ordered pizza and just chilled.  Cora was asleep at 7:20!!!  So tired!

Sunday:
Church.
Then Cora and I did some errands... groceries, a dance stop - getting a few new leotards and her shoes for the next 'season', and then a Target stop.  Kayson had another round of basketball try outs... which went well I guess.  I sure hope he makes that team - that would be fun.

The rest of our Sunday has been quiet... just relaxing.  And I'm enjoying that.

Loved seeing Hope!
First time for everything!
Cool kid!
Look at that jacket!!!  Birthday gift??!?!
Clip on earrings!!  Love!  now she just needs real ones!

"Grand Camp"

Cora and Landry attended a church camp with Ryan's Mom this past Friday through Saturday...  It was called "Grand camp"!!  It's held over at the Newton Christian Conference Center, a center for Disciples of Christ - we have never been there, but it's a full blown camp - cabins, hotel type building, pool, lake, camp fire... and much more (I'm sure!)

JeanAnn (and Landry) picked Cora up Friday afternoon... they headed out with lots of smiles.  Cora looked so big doing this...  I'm proud of her.

They had a busy 24 hours over there...  they were pretty much non stop the second they arrived.  They did swimming, they did art, they learned about God, they sang songs, they had a camp fire, and much more.  JeanAnn did awesome at sending pictures to us, which I appreciated so much.  They had a great time.

They got home Saturday afternoon, and Cora was wiped out.  I could see it in her eyes!  ha.  She talked about their time, and said she had fun and wants to go back next year.  Which I love.  Super fun.

This was definitely a great little memory for her and JeanAnn.

Story time

Art - making pineapples

Finished - so cute!

I love this picture...  that chalice is awesome, cute girls too!

VBS 2019

It was a busy week this week--- BTB during the day, and VBS at night.  I need to remember that doing VBS at night literally takes everything out of my kids!  Oops!
Anyway, we participated in the Hope Waukee VBS again this year...  Kayson was lucky enough to have Hud and Caleb with him, in his group, so I know that was fun for them.  Cora didn't know anyone in her group, but I figured that was ok.  She said she's still enjoyed it, and played with a few of the boys.  (Imagine that!)
It's been a good week...  lots of learning about God, dancing, singing and pure exhaustion!  :)

"My stomach hurts..."

For weeks... possibly months, I feel I've had some sort of stomach ache off and on.  Some days I have no signs of achy or pain, but some days, I'm in a ton of pain.  Over the past week, I've been miserable.  I'm not the most laid back person, I get worked up, I am a nervous nelly (as some would call me)...  and I just plain worry.  But in the end, last week - I was super uncomfortable and super frustrated.

So... I saw the doctor.
Last Thursday afternoon - doc was seen... explained all sorts of things to him, and him back to me.  He pushed and pushed on my abdomen - checking my gall bladder, liver, lower abs, and my stomach.  Well - when he pushed on my stomach, I about came up off the table.  Very painful.

Blood work was done.  Results were - my liver enzymes were ok, but my pancreatic enzymes were elevated.

I was given a prescription to 'help settle my stomach'.

Then this Monday I had an abdominal ultrasound done.  Wow - never had that before - and it was a long process.  That tech took (what I thought) hundreds of pictures of my middle, left and right abdomen...

Yesterday I received the results - "all normal".  Now - don't get me wrong, I'm glad that it's good news, however, I'm super frustrated that I still am uncomfortable and from time to time look (and feel) like I am 5 months pregnant.  NO JOKE.

So...  I've decided I'm going to just continue with the prescription and the other things the doctor told me to try...  I'll try to do a better job of watching what I eat (but have never, ever done that... and really don't want to start now!).  So we'll see.  I've said so many darn prayers about this... and the outcome is good, but again - still in some pain and frustrated...

More to come... maybe.

Weekend

Wow, another weekend has passed...  I say this all the time, but ever since July 4th, things have went faster and summer seems to be closing soon.  It's making me sad!!

Friday:
I had a meeting out at church...  talking Sunday School and such.  It was a great meeting...  got lots of things decided, so we'll try it and see.  Ryan and the kids got supper, and then went to Lifetime pool.  It was a miserably hot day, so the pool was a good choice for them.

Saturday:
This and that in the am...  then the kids have been asking to go miniature golfing...  again, too hot, so Kayson suggested Glow Golf - indoor place.  We tried that.  It was fine...  kids had fun, something different to do.  We grabbed lunch, then back home.  Cora had a birthday party to go to... which she had a ton of fun.  It was a painting party - they did canvas painting, and she did so good!  She's really a little artist, which I love.  While she was there, I got groceries...  and putzed around at home.

Saturday night, a few baseball moms were planning to get together - supper, simple...  we did supper at a yummy Mexican restaurant, then headed to a bar and played a card game.  I had a good time... but not going to lie - by 9pm, I was yawning and ready to go home!  ha.  We had a nice time... such good people.

Sunday:
Church, which was really good.  It's General Assembly here in DSM for the Disciples of Christ, so we had a guest minister that did the sermon, and just nice to have some extra people in the church...

We then just fiddled around at home...  were pretty quiet, which was nice.  Then Kayson had a basketball try out - for the Waukee Boys Travel Team.  I'm not sure if he'll make the team - they only take 10!!  So...  he's gotta do his best.  He said he did well, and so did Ryan... so we'll see.  He'll try out again next Sunday.

Then JeanAnn came to hang with the kids while Ryan and I went to the Home Show Expo here in Waukee.  Oh man, it was so cool to walk through those beautiful, huge homes.  I really enjoyed myself.  That took a couple hours, then Ryan and I grabbed supper out.  A little day date.  The kids and Grandma went to Toy Story 4 at the theater, and then just hung out.  Thanks to her for that.

It was a good weekend...  always busy, and always fast.

This week the kids have VBS at Hope in Waukee...  Should be another busy one!

Weekend - Celebrating Ryan's 40th

Last week was BUSY.  Kayson had the Waukee basketball camp he always goes to...  9-4 Monday thru Thursday.  He was pooped by Thursday night.  Cora had BTB all week, then had a dance camp every night from 6:15-7:45.  And it was a HARD camp.  She told us that every single night.  It was just more intense than I had imagined... but honestly, it was good for her.  She now knows what those 'big girls' do... and she learned... so I know it was a success, but she definitely was exhausted.

Friday:  I worked from home cuz K didn't have camp or BTB...  so I ended up keeping both kids home Friday.  They had a hell of a week.  They both were absolutely exhausted, especially Cora.  So I let them sleep in... I worked from home in the morning.  They layed low most of the morning... getting a little bored, but it was ok.

We grabbed Hudsen at his house and he came over and hung with Kayson... we did lunch out, they did PS4, played outside a little...  and talked my ears off.  Cute kids.  So our Friday afternoon was pretty good.

Friday night was another busy night.  Cora went to her last dance night...  and the rest of us went to the "end of the season" wiffle ball game - Moms vs Boys.  And man, I had so much fun.  Oh my gosh.  I was a little hesitant at first - knew I would probably make an ass out of myself, but in the end, I really didn't!  It was just super fun...  super relaxed...  those people make it so fun and easy.  So thankful.  So we did that all of Friday night...  Ryan got Cora from dance, you could see it in her face (bags under her eyes), she was wiped out.  I took her home around 9ish...  K and Ryan stayed out til 10ish!!

Saturday:
We were going to celebrate Ryan... kinda of.  I had planned an afternoon of golf for him and his friends... and Blair.  Blair and the kids made the long trip over here...  Martina had another obligation, so she didn't make it.  Saturday morning we did a few errands before they got there...  then the chaos began!  Ryan and Blair headed out to meet up with friends - Mike W, Mike S and Jarren.  They had a super hot day... but from what they told us - they had a blast and that's all that matters to me.

Meanwhile at our house - Mike and JeanAnn came to hang with me and the kids... glad they were there, but man - we were busy.  We had some stress between K and Tate, but overall - we all survived. The girls played well, and Rhett was just happy playing with a few big trucks and seeing what the big kids were doing.  We did sprinklers, and we tie dyed shirts, which was fun.

The guys got home around supper time... ordered pizza, and pretty much got the kids in bed...  I was exhausted!  ha.

Sunday:
We got up and went to church...  I didn't think we would cuz we had company, but Ryan insisted on it.  So the 4 of us did that... which was good.  Then back to the house - had lunch with everyone, then they all headed out.

We had a little quiet time for just us...  I started laundry and cleaned up a little bit... then we headed to the pool.  It was a super hot day, and just felt like we needed to take advantage of that pool. We originally talked about putt-putt golf, but we would have melted!

It was a nice weekend... busy, that's for sure.  We were all so tired this morning...  so hopefully we can push through this Monday!
