Weekend/Taylor Easter

Friday:
I had to get Cora out of school early for dance.  So weird, but that's our life now!  Competition went well, and we actually were only there for about 5 hours!

Saturday:
Kayson had AI in the morning, then we just hung out at home.  I cleaned a little, and got packed up.  Kayson then had baseball practice in the afternoon.  THEN we headed out to Creston.  We met up with Blair's family and hung out with them.  The kids had a great time...  great age to just let them 'be'.  They did well and always make some fun memories.  Unfortunately, always up late and always up early at Grandma's!!  But we survived, barely.  :)

Sunday:
We celebrated Easter with Mike and JeanAnn, and Grandma Janis came for lunch too.  By Sunday afternoon, the kids were getting owly, and tired.  We had to get on the road about 3pm --- Cora had dance, Kayson had baseball.  Cora was a hot mess by the time we got home - she wanted to take a nap.  Nope, no time for that!!!

Overall, nice weekend away.  Next weekend we will see my family for Easter.

Playing with filters on Snapchat.  So funny.

Cora doing her magic card tricks!

Pretty girls.

All the cousins...  oldest to youngest.

2021 Movement Dance Competition

Friday night was our second 2021 dance competition.  Movement.

I didn't get many pictures, as I'm finding they all look the same minus the competition background!  ha.  But it is fun to see Cora all dolled up, and I know she will change a lot over the next year.

Spring Break 2021

Well, as we scrolled through social media, it seemed as everyone went to the beach for Spring Break!  Well, we did not.  And that's fine.  I mean, we aren't huge travelers, but we did say - next year, we need to at least do something.  So we shall see!

But our week was pretty good.

Monday - Caleb came and hung out with Kayson.  They had fun, and Cora enjoyed the time too.  Caleb is so kind to her.  He ended up staying over night (which was not a surprise!!)   They had a good time.  Tuesday was a quiet day...  I worked, and the kids just hung out.  The weather was half decent, so they did a few things outside.  Wednesday they spent the day with Hope.  (Thank goodness for her!)  They had a good day, and was nice having them out of the house!

Then Thursday and Friday - I took those days off.  Thursday, we did a few errands together (and they didn't complain too much!), we had a good day - plenty of giggles and a little snuggling, which was nice.  We also went to a movie!!  Colleen and her crew were having a Private Watch Party, and invited us, super nice...  so we did that Thursday afternoon.  Friday Ryan took the day off too.  We enjoyed just being home.

The weekend was nice too...

Friday night, Kayson stayed with Caleb for his birthday get together...  good kids, but unfortunately, sleepovers are a lot for K.  The kids stay up too late and then they are early risers, and the lack of sleep is not good for Kayson.  He struggled a lot on Saturday - said his stomach hurt, he cried a lot... and just was not himself.  Saturday he had baseball practice, and that was a struggle, but he fought through...

Saturday night Cora had dance for an hour, then her and I went out to a little get together for our new friend, Michelle (she's a dance mom).  She turned 40 a week ago, and some her family was hosting a party for her.  I felt we needed to go... and it was a good time.  Cora had a blast with some of the kids, so that was nice, but was mad when we needed to leave!

Sunday I taught Sunday School, then we were very productive --- a project in the garage - TV!!  We've been talking about that for a little while, and there was a decent priced TV at Costco, and it's now on the wall.  I'm excited, and will be nice to have when people are over, or we just want to enjoy the weather and watch a game or something.  The garage got cleaned, and organized, and I sold some big items too!!

Now it's back to reality for the kids and me.  I really enjoyed those few days off.  I know the kids were tired, but looking forward to seeing their friends.

Weekend/Spring Break

It's the start of Spring Break for the kids.  I wish we could have went and done something - like traveled somewhere, but we still are just not feeling 100% with the whole COVID thing.  Vaccines are out and several of our family members have gotten them, but just not enough yet.

Anyway, I know the kids are excited to have a break from school - although I still feel that they are never there!  We have just had such a weird year!

Saturday:

We hung out at home...  did a few errands, Cora did a ton of arts and crafting, Ryan had a work meeting, Kayson had baseball practice.  Then we decided to go to Creston.  We had nothing going on, and thought it would be nice to just have a quiet afternoon/evening with Ryan's parents.  We watched Jenna's last basketball game (a huge win), so that was fun and stressful!  We had a good little supper, and just a nice visit.

Sunday:

Daylight Savings... lost an hour of sleep, and man, I felt it.  (Actually felt it worse today, Monday!) I taught Sunday school, got groceries, and then layed around!  It was a lazy, cold day - which I enjoyed!  K had baseball practice Sunday night, and that was about it.

A nice weekend.  Kids are home for Spring Break.  Again, nothing planned, but Caleb is hanging out today with Kayson.  Kids will hang with Hope on Wednesday, and I plan to take Thursday and Friday off.  Hope we can just chill, but also enjoy the break.

Cora 2nd Grade Winter/Spring Conference

Tonight was sis' conferences - a virtual meeting with Miss Butcher.

School work is great... Cora is doing amazing.  She has her math adding and subtracting down (however, she will fully explain that she "does not like subtraction!")  She's reading way past the 2nd grade (actually almost 4th grade level!!)  She loves being a leader - loves having the teacher give her 'jobs', she's organized and is a positive encourager.  We loved hearing all these things.

Things she needs to work on/goals - telling time a little better, reading at a slower pace and having positive peer connections.  This last one is a big one...  she has lots of little friends, and with her big personality and wanting to be a leader, this tends to come off as 'bossy'.  We all know this.   She struggles at times with her friends...  getting upset at things and holding that grudge...  being bossy.

We talked with her...  we both know she's very stubborn and just likes to be in charge.  Period.   And then with that, we also know that this is 2nd grade...  she still has a lot to learn and honestly, I hope that dance will help with some of this.  Sounds silly, but I hope she will learn a little more respect (from us and at dance), and apply that at school.  I'm personally not worried about it, but I do know we need to stay on top of this...

Her FAST scores:

Reading - 503 (almost 4th grade)

Math - 205 (right at 2nd grade)

We are very proud of this girl...  just need her to learn some more boundaries and respect.

Weekend

A beautiful weekend finally!  The weather has really stepped it up lately...  but I'm sure we will return to cold soon!

Saturday was a great, busy day.  I got a ton done around the house, lots of outside time too.  Kayson had baseball practice outside, which was great.  We dragged Cora with - she wandered around the park for a bit (a tad bored, but oh well!), I sat with Kelsey and chatted for an hour.  It was great.   Saturday afternoon, we had Cora's friend Zoe over to play.  They played outside for a couple hours, it was awesome (and Cora was pooped afterwards!)  Even better.

Saturday night we just hung out.  Kayson ended up staying over at Carter's too.

Sunday - Sunday School and church at home.  We did an errand (more baseball stuff needed to be bought!), more outside time, Cora had dance, I went for a long walk, and then back home to clean out closets.  I only touched Cora's for now - got rid of some clothes that just don't fit anymore (or she just doesn't like).  She's got a big opinion now, so it was interesting!  But we are a little more organized and ready for spring.   Kayson's closet will have to be done in a couple weeks... he's pretty easy - just need to make sure he has shorts and t's.

Came home from getting coffee, and found Boomer on my counter!!

We walked to get sis from school.
