Free weekend!

We have been busy...  doing this and that, enjoying summer and also getting some things checked off the list to do.  One of those was taking my kids to the pool.  I know they've been several times, but I haven't... and I was ready for a pool day!

Michelle, Cora and Ian joined us Saturday afternoon...  and it was so much fun.   The kids did awesome, and Michelle and I were able to chill a bit!  Ryan and Jesse went for lunch and drank a few too many beers.  ha.  Then we all headed to Van Meter to hang at their house Saturday night.  Yummy food, and just a great little night.

Sunday was a relaxing day... we all slept in, real good!  Then Cora wanted to go back to Van Meter and hang with Cora A.  So Kayson went too!  Thanks to Michelle!  They hung out there for most of the afternoon...  I did grocery shopping and some things around the house.  Otherwise, I was pretty chill.

Friday afternoon, Cora got her nails done too... tips!  Oh man, what have I created!  She loves them, and they look so good on her!  :)

Westside Aces End of the Season party!

We have some awesome families of the Aces... and specifically, the Hummel's opened up their lake house for us on Saturday.  Wow - it was a perfect day, overcast, but warm... and we all had a great time.  The kids were non stop at the lake - boating, tubing, swimming, jumping off the lily pad, paddle boarding, fishing, kayaking!  It was so fun watching them!!

We had a great day, and I loved it!

The boys got to spend the night...  from what I hear, it was a late night and an early morning.  I'm sure they are all feeling it today!

Summer update!

Now that baseball is over...  and Cora has had a solid 4 week break from dance...  thought I would mention the other random stuff that the kids have been up to.

Cora is being tutored this summer again...  her 2nd grade teacher opened her tutoring to any 3rd graders too.  We figured - why not!  Cora could always use the extra help (and won't take it from us!!), so Miss Butcher is working with her for about 6 weeks - every Tuesday and Thursday.  It's been going well.

The nanny's have been awesome!  Alivia Varley has been super busy with dance, so we haven't had a ton of time with her yet, but that will change soon (we hope!)  We actually had Ella (her sister) hang with Cora a couple times, and that was fun for them!

Olivia Berger is great with Cora too...  always has a little craft or something 'to do' together...  then they usually swim in their little pool, go for bike rides, etc.  I feel it's been a good summer with those girls...

Kayson has done a ton of stuff with his buddies... he's had a fair share of chill days at home, but then plenty of 'play' with his friends.  Golf, batting cages, swimming, watching baseball, sleepovers.  He's had a solid summer so far too.

13U State baseball tournament

State 13U baseball has come to an end.  And in a nutshell, our team just didn't come up and play well.  I guess sometimes that happens!!

Overall - for the weekend, we lost 4 games, and won only 1, landing us in 11th place in the Division II bracket.  Pretty sad!!!  But we also are pretty reasonable!  ha.  We know baseball can be so up and down...  so we are just happy we had a pretty good, and fun season.

In addition to being at State (in the Cedar Rapids area), we were able to go tour some of the sport facilities at the University of Iowa.  So fun and cool!  We've experienced some of the places already, but it was fun to do that as a group and see a few different places.

We also got to spend a little time with Monette and Gary!  They visited us at one of the games on Sunday... and then Cora and I ended up having a sleep over with them!  That was fun.  Monday they made us breakfast, and we hung out for a bit... then they watched our last game with us too.  So nice of them to come and hang!

It's always sad to end the baseball season...  we just have so much fun with those families and boys.  We are pretty darn lucky!

Sick sissy

Our little girl has been sick...  not 100% sure if this was the tummy flu or just a nasty virus that really hit her hard.

Wednesday morning she woke... and within 5 minutes, she had thrown up.  I was completely shocked... as she was too.  The remainder of Wednesday was lots of resting, and a little more throwing up.  She officially stopped throwing up around noon on Wednesday, so that portion was actually short lived, but the rest of the symptoms were tough and lingering.

Wednesday afternoon, Cora rested for nearly 4 hours...  woke still feeling 'off' and pale, but definitely seemed to be perked up.  It didn't last long... but she was so freaking brave.  (Way more brave than me).

She slept ALL night Wednesday - actually about 10 hours, so we all thought she would be in the clear.  Unfortunately she wasn't.  So... Thursday - still not throwing up, but so pale, and weak and just not feeling great.  We talked to Aunt Tricia... she suggested that we try food now...  some basics with a little sugar, as her blood sugar may be low.  She had half a piece of toast...  some Gatorade... and that's about it for now.

Thursday afternoon update - doing better.  Definitely has a pep in her step, but also just wants to chill.  Completely fine with that!  She ate some french fries, drank lots of water, had a couple go-gurts...  and all have stayed 'down'.

I tell you what... I'm not good with sick kids, just makes me soooo dang nervous.  But I tell you what, Cora is so brave, and will give me a fake smile when I ask, and that'll help me anytime.  ha.

4th of July weekend/#9 Baseball tournament, Bring the Heat

What a weekend... and a long weekend, which was great, but we are all feeling it today.

Friday, we started the weekend off with two baseball games.

Saturday, more baseball - ended up with two games Saturday afternoon, in the heat.

Sunday, we wrapped up the tournament with two more games.

It wasn't the best weekend of ball... BUT we did get to have Matt Meeker on our team as a sub.  I know Kayson loved that, and the team/parents loved it as Matt crushed several balls into home runs.  So that was fun!  :)

Sunday night, the Parker's hosted all of us over... always so nice when they do that.  They have a great backyard set up...  lots of fun for the boys, and families... and some of the dad's spent some money on fireworks.  It was a fun, late night.

Monday was the 4th, so thankfully we had the day off.  I didn't get much good sleep, so I was feeling just wiped out.  We did get groceries, and took it easy for the most part.  Monday night we went over to Meeker's to hang out.  Super nice family, so that was fun, but again, another late night.  Man, I need a vacation!  ha.

Overall, great weekend...  and nice to do some fun things.  Now it's catchup time on work, laundry, house organization, and continue to enjoy the summer.
