So close.

Well, Monday we had a single gal tour our townhome... we got excellent news the next day - that she loved it and it was up against another townhome. This is what we were told - "She's checking with her bank - she likes your house more than the other but it might come down to the price. The other is smaller and 1 car garage and is less expensive." Of course I'm nosey, and have every right to be - and found out which townhome it was that she was debating on - well it was nearly $15,000 less!! Well, of course she'll pick that one!! We waited it out, and was told this morning that she did buy that cheaper townhome. Darnit. I felt we were so close.

We have another open house this coming Sunday... our realtor says "I'll sell it Sunday!" Gosh I hope so!

I actually shouldn't be complaining one bit - I've known several friends who have had their homes on the market for months - some almost a year, and they DO sell... we (I - Janelle) just need to be patient! And most of you know how impatient I am when I want something! ha. We are 5 weeks in... we've had great traffic through the house, so we'll keep truckin' along and someone will bite.

Wishin' and Hopin'... Spacin' off

We've had several people come look at the townhome over the past 4 weeks... lots of positive thoughts and comments from each buyer that comes through. Now... Just need to grab one of them and reel them in. We had another one come today. Gosh I hope we can sell it soon. Everyone - KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED!

Ryan is travelling again this week - only through Wednesday evening, so that's nice. Kayson and I had a good night - we played, had a good dinner and pulled out one of the Baby Einstein movies. Kayson really got into it - even giggled and got excited a couple times. That was nice to see... We'll have to try that more often. Now the bugger is sleeping, and I've been doing random things... one of them is spacing off! Oh my - I sat down to check email and the Bachelorette is on (which I'm addicted to) - I don't think I blinked the entire 5 minutes until commercial. Too funny. Anyway, off to do a few more things, then bed! Mondays wipe me out.

Funny

Here's a quick video of Kayson laughing at... well, we aren't sure?! It's pretty funny. We had our big dinner and I decided to keep him in the high chair just to "talk" a little and all of the sudden, Kayson just starts giggling and giggling. I decided to get it on video. Too freakin cute.

7 Months

Kayson is 7 months old today... I know I say it over and over again - but seriously, where does the time go? That means that Christmas is only 5 months away. YUK! (only meaning that means winter will be here!)

This weekend is a weekend for Daddy, Momma & Kayson - haven't had one of those in a long time! We were up early today - Kayson is fighting another cold... (seems to have one about every 3 weeks!) We've had a good day so far - took a great long morning nap, then off to do errands... we were busy, and Kayson did great! We even enjoyed the baby pool again - in our small yard. This time Kayson splashed! He loved it!
Here are the things our wonderful baby does:

  • Feeds himself in the morning - we lay him down, and he can't get that bottle in his mouth fast enough!
  • SLOWLY working on rolling over... still just won't do it on his own. I've said for a couple weeks now - he'll go from sitting up to walking! He probably won't even crawl! ha.
  • Likes to play with tupperware bowls. Why do we have all these toys then?
  • Two teeth (which you already know that!)
  • Loves to be tickled - especially on his back!
Here are a few pictures from today... Isn't his shirt funny?

Girls Girls Girls

Well, Kayson is almost 7 months old and he nearly has a handful of girlfriends already. Enjoy the pictures of his future girlfriends... How will he choose?!

From top to bottom:
Cali Kuhl, Presley Goodrich & Halle Ray

We are missing a picture --- Kayson's daycare girlfriend, Peyton. I'm told that Peyton and Kayson play a lot during the day... tugging at the basket of toys and giggling at each other. How freakin' cute!

Firsts

As I told you earlier this week, Kayson has two teeth now... Oh my, are they cuter than ever! I was able to get a picture of the little ornery teeth that have poked through... actually, I feel we've been pretty lucky. Kayson hasn't been too fussy, just a little every once in awhile... I'll take that! Hopefully the next set go well too!

So that's our first 'first' for this week.

Then this weekend (Saturday through Sunday), we all headed down to Kansas City for a little get away (Blair & Martina and Mike & JeanAnn were with us) It was a trip to celebrate Mike's 50th birthday. We first went to St. Joe, MO to visit Aunt Maggie and Jimmie & Diana and Susan. Jimmie & Diana have a wonderful backyard pool that we got to experience... or Ryan, Blair & Kayson got to experience! I stayed in my capris! :)

We first got Kayson's feet wet, then we slowly started taking off his clothes and put his swim trunks on... then he was all out in the pool with Daddy & Uncle Blair. And man, did he have fun! He kicked his legs, splashed his hands and arms and just had a good time for an almost 7 month old! It was great - Ryan was so happy that Kayson did so well! I'm not a water person, but Ryan is - so I think he was just plain pleased that Kayson didn't have a fit and he just really enjoyed it!

We also took a short video of Kayson. Check it out!

It was also Kayson's first trip to Kansas City. We did some shopping and just enjoyed some time away. The guys (minus Kayson) went to a Royals baseball game - they had a great time... Kayson and us girls stayed back at the hotel, did dinner and just hung out. Today on our way back, we did more shopping and had lunch, then got back to Waukee around 6:30. We are all tuckered out, but we had a great time... Now I think we are ready to stay home for the next few weekends!

Random Thoughts

Kayson and I are doing well... the last two evenings have gone fairly quickly. We keep busy - tonight was a walk, lots of playing and a bath - he was more than ready for bed at 7:15, and he was out by 7:40. That just rocks! Now... it's quiet, alone time for me... and this is when the random thoughts start flying!
  • It's only Tuesday - why can't it be Friday?!
  • My dog, Quincy, is crazy - he's doing hot laps, for no reason, I think!
  • Really wishing the townhome would sell - have had 4 people look at it, just gotta have the right person.
  • Yesterday and today at 2:00 pm, I couldn't keep my eyes open! That part of the day is always hard for me! ha.
  • I miss Ryan. Period.
  • I love the movie "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" (watching it now) - just plain funny.
  • Need to eat something for dinner -- it's 8:00 for goodness sake!

TEETH! and missin' Daddy

Ok... it's official. Kayson is now sprouting some teeth. We can feel them... and see them, when he lets us!! There are two coming through on the bottom! OMG, our boy is growing TOO FAST! :) I wish I could get a picture of it, but it's nearly impossible - b/c he really won't let us open his mouth to do that... So be patient, and we'll get one soon, I hope! He's been a tad fussy over the past couple days, which is odd for him, so we knew something was up... then he was up at 2 am til about 3:30 this morning - not really crying, just wide awake and wanting to really suck on his hands and paci. Ryan noticed the teeth this morning... amazing!

Ryan is out of town this week... and the next 2, total of 3 weeks. This'll be hard - especially when/if Kayson is fussy with these teeth. He actually had to head out to South Dakota late this afternoon... man, that makes for a super long week. We already miss him terribly, and it's only been about 2 hours.

Happy Birthday Ryan

Yesterday, July 11 was Ryan's 30th birthday! YEA! Unfortunately, I'm still older than him, and it still reminds me of that!! :) I surprised him with a day of golfing with his closest buddies - there were 6 of them total, they golfed in Adel and had a great time. Ryan didn't have his best round - I think he's exact words were "it was bad, but fun". I guess that's all that matters - that he had fun! Then Saturday evening we all met up at Mickey's in Waukee - all the guys that golfed, plus their wives. It was great to catch up with some of the girls that I hadn't seen in awhile... and I know the guys had fun playing pool and Golden Tee. We ate and drank plenty, and it was just a great time... I hadn't really let loose in a long time!

So Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband!

Great night and Decisions

Ryan and I (and Kayson) got together with some friends tonight for dinner - Justin & Christina - Justin use to work with Ryan at Gardiner Thomsen... and he gave us a call earlier in the week to get together. It was a great idea, and we had a great time... Just good people! :)

Now we are home - put Kayson down (later than normal obviously), but he did well... hopefully he'll sleep well too! We've done some looking at new carseats for our chunky son! Now that he's over 20 pounds, we really need to look into getting a different carseat - our current carseat only goes up to 22 pounds... so a convertible carseat is next for him (which could easily be in the next month or so). It's a lot of work trying to decide what is best for Kayson, without completely deflating our pocket books! Wow. I wonder how people do it that are really strapped for money! We talked with a lady at Babies R Us last week - got a better idea of what's out there and what's good/what's not... so that did help. Now we just need to make a decision!

Now it's off to bed - big day for Ryan tomorrow - he turns 30! YEA! :)

Website

It's official - I finally put together a photography website. With a little push from Ryan, and also from my place of employment (since they have been laying off people left and right), I figured I had better really do this... "just in case." I used a simple template program and it worked out perfect, I really like the end result!! Some of you may see some familiar faces! ;) Check it out!

Great long weekend

I've been off work since Wednesday afternoon... having Thursday off (and Friday as well) has just been wonderful. I've gotten little things done, and just having time with Ryan and Kayson has been great. Friday afternoon we helped Blair & Martina with the new home - did some painting, and organizing... it was a productive day! Saturday was our normal errands and just hanging out... and typically I feel bummed that it's the end of the weekend, but we had ONE more day to enjoy it. Today (so far), just hanging out. We have someone coming to look at the townhome this afternoon, so we all (including the dogs) will leave for an hour or so - maybe we'll hit the park. That would be fun. Either way - it's nice having another day. I would love to have a 3 or 4 day weekend all the time! Might be too much to ask!!

Hope you all enjoyed the long holiday weekend!

Naughty!

Naughty. Of course that's a joke - how can a 6 month old be naughty?!?! WELL - Mr. Kayson has learned to give 'raspberries' - thanks to his Uncle Blair & Grandma JeanAnn - and I suppose his Daddy too! Well, of course it's cuter than ever... especially when Ryan does it, then Kayson does it, and back and forth. It's pretty darn funny. However, now we are giving raspberries when we are eating!! OMG! and about any other time during the day! Last night I am feeding him his green beans & bananas -- every bite he gave me the raspberries!! Food was everywhere! Of course, Ryan and I are both laughing, but then realized that Kayson knows when things are funny! So he continued to do it!! Do we have a naughty boy on our hands?!?! Too funny. It was the first time we had to 'scold him' with a big fat "NO". He still smiled. :)
