2021 VIP Dance competition

And to wrap up our weekend...  the last dance competition.

This one Cora only danced the Pizza Party dance, due to some other girls being gone, so the production wasn't done.  It was a good evening...  just always long!  But we are finally getting used to all of this.

Ryan and K were able to come watch her, so that was nice.

Results were:

Pizza Party - Diamond, Costume Award & 7th place overall

Finally a group photo!

Farm day!! #drivinglesson

Since we had Saturday off from baseball, we decided to head to Grandma Janis' farm Saturday for the day.  Ryan always like to get down there and help with mowing or whatever when we have the free day.  It ended up being a beautiful day too, so totally worth it!

We played/enjoyed the fresh air...  Boomer loved every second too!

We had Kayson start mowing... it was about time!  He's 12!  ha.  Ryan always says that he started mowing about that time, so K was due!  Kayson did awesome... he was nervous at first, and said he wasn't going to do it - but he totally did, and even had straight lines!!  I was so proud of him.

So much running, so much snacking, so much 4-wheeler time too...  then Papa Mike suggested Kayson should drive the old pick up truck!  Holy crap!!  Kid couldn't even see over the steering wheel, but man - he did it, and said he liked it!  (that might be scary!)  Papa just had him drive in the big grove, going round and round...  perfect for practice.   Good memories for sure!

Grandma Janis always enjoys us there, and we love being there.  Was a great day.

Aces Friday Night Double Header #1

Aces signed up for two Friday night double headers...  and Friday was our first. I'm learning that these are open to any ranking of teams - so Friday night we played a Majors team and a AAA team.

First game was the AAA team, and it was a good, solid win.  Kayson pitched well, so that was fun.  Second game was the Majors team... whom we did play last year.  It was a little tougher, but we held our own, and it was a good 'experience/practice'.  At least I think.  Was a late night, but fun to do that on a Friday night... then have Saturday off!  :)

Boys wore their new all white uniforms!  So sharp!!

Weekend

Wow we were busy this weekend.

Friday afternoon, Cora and I were busy - dance pictures.  Man, what a stressful couple of hours - we move so fast changing for outfit to outfit, and making sure things are 'perfect'.  I'll be very interested to see the pictures...  I'm sure lipstick is all over (due to masks), and probably can see it in the girls' faces - overwhelmed!  ha.  But we survived.

We grabbed supper out... then back home to chill.  We have been watching a series on Disney + called "the Secrets of Sulphur Springs"... a good little drama series for the kids.  We are totally into it, and it's been fun to sit and watch together as a family.

Saturday was baseball and dance.  Cora had a three hour production practice, so she was dropped off, and I went to baseball.  Then once she was done, I fed her - and back to baseball.  Again, good day, and beautiful weather.

Saturday night we were home, and pooped.

Sunday back to baseball, then Cora had her normal Sunday dance practice.  While she was dancing, I went for chips and salsa with a few dance moms.  It was a nice hour.

And Sunday night was laundry, picking up (for the cleaning lady), and trying to relax.  Our allergies are all messed up due to being outside so much, and the change in weather.  I know Cora was pretty frustrated.

Great weekend...  but very busy!

#2 Aces tournament

This weekend was #2 for baseball tournaments.

We started Saturday morning - 8am, 10am and 2pm.   Games went fairly well...  always have our moments, but we ended the day with a win, a loss, and a tie.  And that tied game was stressful!  Kayson did well, had some good catches, and he pitched well.

Sunday was day 2 - 10am win, and then a noon game in which we lost.   I had to leave early, but I hear there were some great hits by the other team and too many defensive errors.  Bummer!  Ended in 3rd place, I believe.

The weather was beautiful - actually about perfect, cool, but the sun was warm.  It was a great weekend to be outside and enjoy it.

2021 Dance Champs dance competition

3rd competition in the books for CESOD!

Cora's Pizza Party danced Sunday at noon (started a little early), and then not again til the very end.  So, there was a lot of waiting around, but the plus to that was that we got to see the majority of the other amazing dances.  It was a very long day, but honestly really good.  The kids did well, and were happy to be there.  I know Cora gets super tired, but she did well.

Results were:

Pizza Party: Platinum, "Excellence" award, and 1st place overall in their category!

HS Musical line: Star Platinum, Most Entertaining award and 1st place overall in their category!

Great day!

Plus there were soooo many other awards too - some were: Star Studio award, Supernova award going to "Daughter", so many choreography awards, entertainment awards and more!

#1 Aces tournament

We are officially in baseball season with our first baseball tournament!

Saturday we played in the CIS Spring Showdown here in DSM.  The weather on Saturday was not good - cold, windy and rainy. Not a fun combination!!  The boys played at 10 am and 2 pm on Saturday - both with good wins.  There were some 'wiggles' to get out from the boys - especially Kayson.  I could tell he was nervous!!  But regardless, it was two good wins to get the season started.

It was so fun being back with the Aces family - so nice seeing the Moms again, and just sitting with them and talking/giggling.  Such good people.

Luckily we got to see the other Taylor's too!  Tate had a scheduled baseball tournament in Indianola on Sunday, so we got to see them during K's 2 pm game.  Fun to have them here, even if the weather wasn't the best.  The kids ran around, which was fun for them.  Tate sat with Ryan and watched the game, which I know Ryan enjoyed.

Sunday was another day of games... 10 am game which was a win.  Kayson pitched the majority of that game, and apparently did well.  Then they had a 2 pm game, which was a loss. They came from behind, which I think was good, but just couldn't pull it out.

Good way to start the season!

COVID Vaccine #1

Well, Ryan and I bit the bullet and proceeded with getting the first vaccine shot for COVID.  Not going to lie, I was (and still am) super hesitant about getting it.  It makes me nervous - we have no idea how this will affect us down the road.  It just makes me worry.  But Ryan was a little more 'demanding', so we drove to Creston Friday morning.  (Everywhere around DSM was a longer wait to get it, and we figured, let's just do it).   It worked out fine.

No side effects of the first shot - except a super sore arm.  I think my arm hurt all the way til Saturday night, which was a little annoying!

We will see how the next one goes.  There's word that there ARE side effects of not feeling well, and I'm not good being sick, so I am praying I have no issues!

Weekend/Easter Sunday (Hardy's)

We had a very nice weekend...  busy, but nice.

I had Friday off from work, for Good Friday.  I took Boom to the vet, did a few errands and then had lunch with Colleen, and we sat for almost 2 hours.  Exactly what we needed.  Nice to see her.

Friday night we just hung out.

Saturday, we slept in a little and just did stuff around the house. We took Boomer to the dog park, as the weather was great.  We just kind of took our time, and enjoyed not rushing (as baseball starts next week, and we will have limited Saturdays from here on out!!)  Saturday afternoon we got packed up and headed to Clarion to visit my family.  We went to the farm, and walked around outside, the kids drove the Gator around, and just enjoyed the fresh air.  Dad was doing well... he was happy to have us there.  I still wish my kids were more 'loving' to him, and vice versa.  Boomer loved the farm - ran and ran, so that was fun. Jill, Jeff, Linds and Ryan came out Saturday night and we had pizza...  was a great visit.

Unfortunately, none of really slept well Saturday night.  It's just not comfortable there...  beds aren't that great, Dad gets up early, it's SUPER quiet at the farm!!, Cora cried at least twice cuz she couldn't sleep.  It was pretty awful.  But we survived.

We attended church in person, and it was great.  I just love Pastor Bill... such a good service and sermon.  It was nice to be in a church, and was nice with my family.

After church we went to Tricia's, they grilled for us... we played outside, had a little Easter egg hunt for the kids (and the adults), and just was such a good time.  We just laugh and laugh with them...  I just love them so much.

We did have to head out fairly early, as K had baseball practice.  After that, most of the Aces families stuck around and we grilled out and just enjoyed each other's company (without a baseball game going on) - kind of the kick off to the season.  It was a great time.

Great weekend.
