5th Grade Honor Choir Festival!

So first, I was wrong with the expectations of Honor Choir.  I thought this was a year long thing - but apparently it's just a beginning of the year thing and they perform once at a festival.  So... there!

Last night was their big event/festival.
And WOW - super impressed!!  90 kids total (10 kids from each of the 9 elementary schools).  It was so good... and I was so dang proud!!!

With all that, Kayson has really enjoyed this.  We even got a message from the Choir director, telling us that she's super proud of Kayson and glad to have gotten to know him a little better.  She also said she hopes that he continues with choir... that the middle school director would be happy to have him!  I thought that was super nice...

Super fun night!!

Kayson - Science Project -- Ecosystem

First - super pumped how Kayson gets so into some science things...  I appreciate that so much!  He had a pretty big project to work on... and we did some of it at home.

Weekend/Carrie Underwood!

Wow, what a weekend... we were busy the entire weekend, and had so much fun... but now - exhausted!

Friday:
Ryan and I went out for supper with Hummel's and Daughtery's...  super good couple of hours, totally needed to step away from the house and kids too.  Ryan's folks watched the kids - they did supper out and made rice krispie treats.

Saturday:
Laundry and all the house things...

Kayson and I did an errand to finish up his science project (I'll post about next!).  We worked on that...  Cora did some art and playing really well.  Football was on...  just all the nice home things.

Late afternoon, my sisters and nieces arrived...  Carried Underwood bound!  We were so excited!  We went for supper, then headed downtown...

Ryan and the kids went to a movie, and had a great time.

Anyway, the concert was amazing...  pretty great seats, but we weren't right next to the girls, which was ok.  Those under age girlies may have snuck in a few 'drinks'.  haha.  They had fun, and that's all that matters.  Carrie is just amazing - I want to be just like her when I grow up!  ha.

We got home about midnight...  everyone was silly and hungry.  We sat up and chatted for awhile, but then we crashed.

Sunday:
Ryan and the kids went to church... I stayed home and hung with the girls.  Which was super nice...  We hung out all morning, just chatting away.  All I could think was - "man we are so darn lucky to be so close and enjoy each other that much!!"

They headed out about 11ish...  and I went out to church to get the kids, cuz Ryan had a meeting afterwards.

Our afternoon consisted of groceries, more laundry... and wrapping up Flag football!  Sis and I sat in the car, but were able to see the entire game, and it was a great one!  K and his friends did great, and had so much fun.  Just made me happy.

THEN to top the day/weekend off... we headed out to church for Truck or Treat!  Freezing, but the kids actually had a really good time.

See? What a weekend... and I'm completely wiped out!  Wow I wish I had today off!

3 Years

As of this afternoon, Mom has been gone from us for 3 years.
It continues to break my heart and always will... but today, my feelings were rather numb. I felt blah... tired... numb.  All day I thought about her... and trying to never forget her.

I posted a saying today...

And it’s really true. I’m sure my family and friends sometimes wonder who I am anymore... sometimes I’m just so “out of it”, I’m sometimes never sensitive (which I’ve always been the sappy one).  I’m just different or at least I feel so.  I don’t think it’s bad, just definitely have had an adjustment to my soul and the way I deal with things.

We miss Grandma so much... it hurts and I pray everyday she was here... but she’s not, and I need to understand it.

Weekend/Iowa Game

Friday:
Another week without Ryan... but we survived.  I have to say the week actually went quickly.  We were busy with activities - but also had our Wednesday night free and we really enjoyed it to be honest.

Friday night --- We stayed in, ordered pizza, hung out.

Saturday:

Off to the Iowa game - for the whole family.  Cora had been asking about the Hawkeye games for awhile... asked if and when she could go.  And to be honest, I was hesitant, but we talked about it - tried to explain to her what it would be like, etc.  And really - I knew we haven't seen Ryan in about a month (honestly), so I felt that the weather was going to be decent - let's do it.  We needed the family time together.

Lester & Mike were at the house about 8, not too shabby...  and we were off.  The ride was fine... then the rain started once we got there, and it really didn't stop unfortunately. (everytime I go, it rains!) Cora was a champ, surprisingly.  And Kayson was good.  It was fine, and I'm glad we went and glad Cora got to experience it.

We headed home and got back about 4:30ish, which was great too.

After getting unloaded, we ended up going to Ryan's work Falliday Party.  I had actually forgotten about it, but the weather was awesome, so we went... the kids played and did really well (for being gone all day and wiped out!).  We visited with a few people, ate a little... then headed home.

Hope and Logan were at our house... Logan was running the Marathon Sunday morning in DSM.  Crazy - but super excited for him, and he did awesome!!

We visited with them for awhile, then crashed... we were all so tired.

Sunday:

Church.
Laundry and more laundry. Playing catch up.
Groceries.
Cleaned out Cora's closet... for the 100th time.
Flag FB.
Supper.
Books.
Bed.

Busy day.
