Weekend

A free weekend!
We originally thought we would have baseball this weekend, but we had our dates wrong...  it was the Taylor Family Reunion weekend too...  but we ended up just opting out.  Ryan traveled last week (the 7 hour drive), work was a little overwhelming, and to be honest, I think we just wanted a weekend at home... with no baseball and no nothing!  and we got it.

Friday:
We stayed in...  didn't do much (that I can remember!) :)

Saturday:
Ryan worked... then mowed before it got brutally hot.  Kids and I just hung out... they did pretty well, but we did get a little sideways with each other - a little crabby and ansty.  I've figured they don't know WHAT to do when we don't have baseball.  ha.  Anyway, we ate lunch, then ended up going to the pool.  We had fun there... just what we needed.  The kids did great, it was hot, we ran into a few church friends... and just was a nice time.

Saturday night we went to an I Cubs game.  Ryan got tickets from his work... great seats and enjoyed ourselves for the first 3 innings or so.  Then the storm came through.  We got a TON OF RAIN - flash flooding in the metro area (Ankeny I think was the worst)...  pretty terrible for a lot of people.  Luckily, we are good.  So... we made it to our car just in time!!!  And headed home...

Sunday:
Church... I finally got to hear our new Pastor preach... and it was GOOD.  I really like him... I think he'll be good for our church.  Praying that now we can get some more families!!!

Then this afternoon we have just been doing this and that - we cleaned in the basement, organized, threw away some stuff... and just putzed around.  We took the electronics away from the kids, and they were a hot mess...  but eventually they found a few things to do.  But they were a little mouthy and bratty...  eventually, it got better.  Just a quiet Sunday afternoon inside... again, kind of what we needed.

Dad talking to Kayson about baseball stuff!
