Boomer - Seizure

Friday, June 21, Boomer had a seizure here at home.

Backstory:

We have been prepping Boomer for a little vacation we are taking mid-July by taking him to Paws Inn for day stays.  He's been doing this for months - about 3 times a month or so, and it's not his favorite thing.  But we kept pushing through, we thought for sure he would get comfortable and it would be ok.

Thursday, June 20, Boomer had a day stay.  He was there for a long time - about 8am til 5pm.  The staff said he had a rough day - very overwhelmed, stressed and just not happy.  That, of course, broke my heart.  I hate that, and honestly makes me so sad.

We got home Thursday, gave him a bath, and he rested... just like any other time he's gone.

Early Friday morning, he was restless laying with me...  so I woke and could tell he was really restless, soon he was stiff and I picked him up, trying to calm him, and I put him down, and he had a seizure, right there, in front of me.  I didn't even know what to do besides yelling his name.  Soon it was over, and I was holding him...  waking Ryan and telling him what happened.

I was able to get into our new vet (which is a story in itself), and she was incredible with him.  Of course, by the time we got to the vet, Boomer seemingly was fine.  Nervous to be there, which is normal, but he was good.  We talked through everything... and in a nutshell, the vet suggested to remove Boomer from any stressful situations (boarding), and hope this never happens again.  She called it a "stress induced seizure".

With that, we are removing him from boarding, keeping him home where he's safe with his humans...  and happy.  For our vacation in July, we will be having Jenna stay with him.  I hate to put people in that situation to stay at our home, but we have to have someone here - consistently and someone we know.

Pray for this little guy...  I hope this never happens again.

2024 Legacy Dance Nationals

Cora and I spent the last week (June 23 through June 27) in Wisconsin Dells with CESOD for nationals.  I always worry about doing that drive "alone" and a whole week away, but we did it, and we had a good time.

Cora was a trooper all week - she's growing up, and I'm seeing it.  She handled the busyness well, she handled our down time well... I'm so proud of her, and I'm proud to be her mom.  I know she's not perfect, but seeing other young girls cry and be bitchy, and then see Cora not be that way - is refreshing, and I appreciate it.

Anyway, the week was good:

Monday - Girls Night duet with Tenley.  They did so well, probably one of their best runs!  The girls placed in the top 10, which is a huge accomplishment!  Super exciting for them.

Wednesday - small groups and large group dances.

Never Dreamed did well - lyrical is hard, always is for this age, but they did well...  definitely a good 'last' run! Received an Elite Gold, placed 10th.

Goldie Locks - Elite Gold, 6th place.

Wash That Man - Elite Gold, 9th place.  (We were ready to wrap that dance up!!) It's a harder one, and not one of our favorites!  ha.

Snow Day - Judges award - "Hip Hop Madness", Platinum, 7th place overall - and chosen for the Showdown!  Very exciting, and well deserved.  The kids crushed that dance, and was a crowd favorite, which is super fun!

It was a great week - lots of pool time, lots of dance time, lots of supporting the others when we could.

Summer, so far (thru mid-June)

The summer is going well...  it's hot already.

Baseball is going ok -- unfortunately, Kayson was part of an incident last week that involved him videoing a player and passing that video on to friends...  he was caught, as you obviously are not supposed to do that - and he was suspended from baseball for a few days.  Very disappointing...  and I believe he has learned a lesson.  Or at least I hope.

When K is not doing baseball, he's playing golf.  He just loves that sport.  He's went out a few times with Duke, so that's fun.

Cora is doing well - and we are loving having Alivia help out this summer again.  Alivia is just with her Mon - Thurs, for about 4 hours a day or so.  The goal for that is to keep Cora off her iPad, and keep busy - pool, coloring, picnic, seeing some friends... and just enjoying the summer.  We unfortunately have already had to get on to Cora (& Kayson) for being lazy... and not helping out around the house.  Pick up your stuff - your bottles of drinks, cups, dishes, etc.

Cora has still be hard at dance...  after recital, there are two weeks of 'intensives'.  Week 1 was good - in the morning, so that was good.  We are on Week 2 - late afternoon/evening.  It's definitely a good week of dance...  they work hard.

We head to the Dells Sunday.

Kayson spent a couple days with Hudsen and Reid at Hummel's lake house.  I know that was fun for them. K also has been helping with the 8U baseball team a little...

We got to spend a little time with Aylah Saturday afternoon at the splash pad, that was fun.

Ryan went over to Sioux City to see Tate play in his last baseball tournament.

We also celebrated Duke's high school graduation.  That was a nice night seeing some family.

CESOD 2024 Recital

Recital rehearsal was Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for Cora.  Such busy nights...  flying through all the dances, and especially getting those rec dances nailed down.  That's always interesting!

Everything went well, but was exhausting!

Cora and Miss Sarah and the little ballerinas!

Sunday was the big day - noon show and 5:30 show.  This year, the shows were about 3 hours (with intermission), so not too terrible!  Cora did well, so well and so fun to watch.  I personally love recitals, as you just get to see it all come together - especially some of those recital dances, and I love the opening/finale dances - SOO good.  Miss Charlee knows how to put on a show!  :)
