Friday:
Our elves (Hawkeye & Snowflake!) showed up Friday morning... and boy, the kids were excited! Cora literally sprung out of bed - the fastest she's ever gotten out of bed!!! ha.
Friday night, Kayson and I had a little 'date'... with another Mom and her little girl. Haley. Haley is still in our lives... and we love it. I've gotten to know Jamie a little more... and doing this, we keep the kiddos in touch, and it means a lot. Anyway, we met up with Jamie and Haley at the Waukee Winterfest. Basically, it's a gathering to see Santa (which we did not do... no sitting on Santa's lap for Kayson!), ride on a trolley to see some Christmas lights and do other random holiday type things in the freezing cold. ha. We spent a couple hours out in the cold with them... and we had a very nice time.
Ryan and Cora just stuck around at home while we were gone... It was a nice night.
Saturday:
Saturday morning we just hung around the house... cleaning and laundry. Then we went out and did a few errands. K needed basketball shoes and shorts, done. We grabbed lunch out, then back home. Cora took a rest, and I did some more laundry and just hung out. Another super nice afternoon... loved just being at home.
Then Ryan's parents came to stay with Cora that night. Kayson had a birthday party to attend - his little friend, Hudsen, invited K and some other boys to go to the Iowa Energy basketball game. We dropped Kayson off around 5:30 - they did pizza/cake, then out to the game. They had a blast!!! Kayson was all hyped up when he got home (at 10:20!!!), so I knew he had fun. So cool. While he was there, and Cora was being taken care of - Ryan and I met up with our friends, Lori & Corey (a couple originally from Creston). We had a yummy dinner, and sat and talked. It was so nice. Lori's Dad passed away unexpectedly about 18 months ago, so it was nice to talk with her a little about that stuff... It was a very nice night.
Sunday:
We woke up to some snow!! It quickly, however, disappeared cuz the temps were just warm enough. But Kayson was pretty excited to see the snow. We went to church... then home this afternoon. Kayson and I ran a few errands while Cora rested and Ryan worked a little. I started wrapping some gifts... and that's about it.
I received a very thoughtful gift from my friend Nikki this afternoon... it's perfect and brought big crocodile tears to my eyes. I miss Mom so much... and this was just so perfect to have for the holidays.
The house smells yummy with a few candles going... and the Christmas tree lights are just really calming to me right now.
