How in the world?! Last day of Freshman year - next year, Kayson heads to the Waukee HS next year.
9th grade was a solid year for Kayson - solid grades, with some laziness thrown in there, but that's a 15 year old, right?
Face and hair have changed. |
Kayson is out for 9th grade Waukee Warriors baseball team. With Waukee, it's obviously a very large talent pool... about 40 kiddos out for just 9th grade. We were obviously hoping for K to make the A team, or at least start the B team.
Not so much.
This has been a very hard start to 9th grade ball... just different. I know Kayson isn't the best player out there, but I'm seeing that last names are the way 'in' and how parents kiss coaches asses. Not us. So... we will push through this season, and hope to see Kayson play some games. I'm trying to be positive, and turn this into a learning opportunity, and having him push harder... but it's hard. It's just a hard thing to swallow and to see your kid out, and not play.
More to come I'm sure... but the month of June will be busy with double headers in the middle of the day!
ISASP (Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress) was taken a couple weeks ago for both kids. Results are in, and all is good.

We've been going to Ashworth Road Animal Hospital for over 20 years... I think. We went there with Quincy and Murphy... and now Boom. Unfortunately, my favorite vet left several years ago... but we stayed. The last few visits for Boomer haven't been the greatest - just not feeling 'loved' and having a hard time connecting with the vet. I was fed up, so I started searching.
Friday we visited with a different vet at Waukee-Clive Vet. Her name is Dr. Hufferd, and she was very nice... very kind... interested in Boomer... got on the floor to talk and pet him... overloaded me with information... and made me feel like I was not dumb.
We have some things to work on for Boom - he's been licking a lot, so we are going to try an allergy med for him, to see if that will calm that behavior down. In addition, his anxiety is pretty high. We are going on a little vacation in July, in which Boomer will need to be boarded... and that is a lot for him. So we are trying some calming meds in hopes that will help. I'm worried.
Regardless, we have some things to try, and I felt comfortable with this new vet. We will continue to try her and her office, and see how things go.
We love this pup so dang much.
This is always a fun week - parents can gather to observe tumbling, technique and hip hop. I personally love it... I love seeing that atmosphere, the hard work, and also a little silliness.
