Sometimes when I re-read the blog, I realize that I don't really give updates on Kayson. Bad Mom? No (or at least that's what I'm going to tell myself!)
Kayson is my sweet boy, when he wants to be. :) He's 4 1/2 (almost) and he challenges us every day in some way ... usually a different way, each day. :) He's my first born and will always be "my baby" and Ryan's "Buddy or Little Boy"... We love him so darn much.
He's really starting to grow up. (Some nights we still think he acts like a baby, but he's not - he's just whining!!) But he's changing - he's growing to be a big kid. He's really showing interest in different things... forming his own little personality. He's a technology type of kid - he loves the iPad, loves movies, those types of things. He loves to be involved in things - whatever it is, it doesn't really matter. He wants to help with anything and everything too. This is something we are trying to do more of at home... we've been told that if he's bored at daycare, he follows the teachers around asking for things to do. So my kid. :) So we are giving him more 'chores' to do at home... and so far, so good. Some of them are little like - helping with garbage on Thursday nights, helping unload the dishwasher (silverware mostly), putting the napkins out for supper time, those types of things. I'm sure he would take more... and I may start enlisting him in cleaning something! :) But either way, he's showing us that he wants to help and wants to stay busy. Which I love. I hate to sit, and be bored, so he definitely gets that from me.
Everyone says he's SO TALL. I think he is too (and SKINNY) - I believe he had grown over 3 inches from age 3 to 4, and I bet he's already grown another 1 inch so far this year... Pants pretty much don't fit him. I guess it's a good thing it's summer time!!
I've spoke of this before - he has been saying words that we don't like - I've decided that's just the way it's going to be. He's going to pick up things from others for the rest of his life, we just have to be consistent and remind him that those words aren't used at our house. It seems to work... for now!
Another thing he's been throwing out at me is - "why are the neighbors still outside?" (When it's 8 pm - still light out - and some of the kids are still playing.) Well - we have rules at our house, and our rules are 'bedtime is at 8 pm'. He doesn't like that very much, but I guess it's a lesson for him. Every family has different rules.
Kayson still is not very independent. At all actually. I believe that Ryan and I are to blame for this. When it was just him with us - as a baby... we were on the floor with him ALL THE TIME. We played everything with him. It's what we did. So when we ask him to play alone or go to his room for quiet time or to color - he wants one of us to be with him. I'm torn on this - Of course I didn't want to miss out on ANYthing with him as a baby, but now I want him to do things on his own... tough one. I'm curious to see how Cora does - so far, she will play with her toys for a long time by herself.
He's a good kid... smart, funny and cares for his Mommy, Daddy and sister... that's what's important. I love him so much.

Cora's 9 Month Stats
Weight: 21 lbs. 9 oz. (90%)
Height: 29" (90%)
Head: 18" (90%)
Her appointment went well... this is an easy appointment. No shots at 9 months! Beebe just checked her over... Cora had thrush last week and a yeast infection on her bottom, so we talked a lot about those two items. They are getting better, but her bottom is still bumpy. :( We'll continue meds.
Beebe would like to see Cora eating more mashed foods... but unfortunately, Cora has a gag reflex that's just like her brothers (and her Daddy's). ha. So... we'll take it slow and keep trying. Daycare has been doing something everyday to get her used to it, so that's helpful.
Cora's babbling a lot, which the doctor likes to see.
I feel like we are at the doctor all the time... so Beebe says as we are walking out - "Let's not see each other til her birthday... ok!?" :) Sounds like a great plan to me. ha.
Comparison to Kayson's 9 month stats:
Weight: 23 lbs 9 oz. (90%)
Height: 29 3/4" (90%)
Pretty much the same, except the weight.

Un-Planned Day
I heart 3 day weekends. :)
Saturday we did some stuff around the house... did lunch out, got groceries and did some more things around the house. It was a nice day. My exciting thing I did around the house was cleaned out the pantry. :) Yes, it's the little things.
Today we had talked about taking the kids to the zoo. Waking up to gloomy weather... chilly and windy, we decided we better skip that... so we headed down to Diagonal for one of the extended Taylor family reunions (Ryan's Great Grandmas side - hard to explain!). We had lunch, still with some gloomy weather... then promptly after lunch, the sun came out and it got warm!! Of course, we dressed ourselves in 'fall' like clothing... Kayson was hot. ha. We went to Papa Dick and Grandma Janis' farm to play... most of the Taylor cousins were there, so Kayson was in heaven. We all just hung out outside and the kids played... the big boys did some stuff around the farm, helping out Papa Dick. It was just a great little afternoon.
So tomorrow we don't have anything planned... besides a little more cleaning. I need to clean out the fridge and scrub that darn kitchen floor. Anyone want to come over and do that for me!?!? :) Oooo and take a nap. :)
Either way, I'm thrilled we get one more day at home... Another 'Stay Home Day' like Kayson says! I hope the weather is decent, that maybe we could get out for a walk...
Here are some recent pictures of the kiddos.

Five Question Friday
1. Do you wake before the alarm or stay in bed until the last possible second?
The last possible second. I'm not very good at getting out of bed... on a normal day. BUT for some reason, if we have an appointment (like Cora's tubes), I have no problems getting out of bed SUPER early, right when the alarm goes off. But for a 'normal' day - work day - I struggle. I know that I have to be out of bed by 6:10 in order to still be ready by the time I get the kids up at 6:35. (Yes, I can get ready fast).
2. Who should get a baby shower? Is it just the first baby or all babies?
Well... since I had a small baby shower for Cora... I have to say - if the second baby is a different gender. That's the ONLY reason I agreed to letting my friends have a baby shower for me.
3. How will you spend Memorial Day?
We plan on being home all weekend... just us... which I'm looking forward to. Sure, K will probably be bored, but we'll get through it! If the weather cooperates, we hope to hit the zoo up Sunday morning. I hope to get some cleaning done... and a nap in. :)
4. Do you have a Storm/Hurricane/Tornado/Fire plan for your kids, house?
Unfortunately no, we don't. I live with a husband who likes to watch the storms - outside. :) But I do know, if it got serious enough, we would immediately go downstairs. We are not dumb. :) I pray almost every night that nothing like that ever happens to us...
5. What's your favorite morning drink?
Probably a French Vanilla cappuccino from Kum & Go. I don't like the Casey's cappuccino anymore... too chocolaty. :)

Cora - 9 Months Old
Yesterday our fun little girl turned 9 months old.
She's doing great. Her ears seem to be doing well - I think I can tell a difference in how happy she is. She laughs at us, Kayson, at herself. It's great! She's needy when she's hungry and tired. We know the signs, which makes it easy.

- Talks and coos... has been getting louder and louder as each week goes by!
- Does not like to have her diaper changed or get dressed... or maybe she just doesn't like to sit still for those 3 minutes. :)
- Routine is right on (we changed it up about 3 weeks ago)
- 6:45 am Bottle
- 8:15/8:30 am - Cereal & Fruit
- 9:00 - 11:00/11:15 am - Nap
- 11:30 am - Bottle
- 1:15 - 3:30 pm - Nap
- 3:40 pm - Bottle & Snack if she wants (Puffs, Yogurt Melts)
- 6:00 pm Fruit, Veggie, Cereal
- 7:45 pm Bottle
- 8:00 pm BED!
- Wearing 9 (and 12 month) clothes... (I love all the cute summer things she's been able to wear lately). She has some jean shorts that are the cutest damn things!
- Size 3 diapers (Might have to do size 4 for night time - leaking through)
- Rough estimate of weight - 22 lbs.
- The car seat is going better... she doesn't throw the fit anymore... but still doesn't nap very well in it.
- Crawling all over! Moves fast!
- Pulls herself to her knees... slowly working on getting to her feet.
- Likes Kayson's toys... LEGOS especially and his little Hot Wheel cars.
- Loves the front door. Loves to follow us around. Loves to be outside.

Proud
I have oooed and awwwed over my oldest neice several times lately... and I should. I'm her god mother and proud to be her Aunt. Ashley graduated today from high school. It was awesome to watch her.
I'll start with the beginning of our weekend...
I took Friday off from work to have a garage sale. Wow - those damn things are a lot of work!! But I did well - made about $375. Not too shabby. I still have a pile of crap downstairs... so my goal is to go through that stuff and sack it up for Goodwill. If it didn't sell the second time, it's just not going to sell!
Saturday morning we opened the garage sale for just a couple hours... it's not worth it! We've heard different opinions about Saturday's... so now we know to just do Fridays... or even open on a Thursday night. Next time. :)
Anyway, we then had soccer... Ryan and I are realizing that Kayson's strong suit is NOT soccer. ha. He's not aggressive enough. Which, obviously, is fine... and I'm glad we are learning that. (Maybe it'll change, maybe it won't!) So it was a long hour for Mommy and Daddy... I think there's just one more week. ha.
We got packed up and headed up to Clarion. We hit up Hope's boyfriend's graduation open house... nice kid that Logan is. And Kayson just loves him!!! We hung out there for awhile... and since it was at the golf course, Logan took K for a ride in a golf cart. Lucky little boy. :) We had dinner at the farm, and were just going to 'relax' (just us) and then Ash, Lindsay & Lil Ryan came out to play. We went for a long walk to the park near by... Kayson played some baseball with Papa, it was a great time. They are such great kids...
We got the kids to bed late... and none of us really slept very well... well, maybe K did. Cora made lots of noises throughout the night... I slept on the terrible hide-a-bed... and I think Ryan was kicked a lot by Kayson! Plus there was a terrible storm that came through around 4 am and that thunder shook that old farm house!!
Anyway... today we went to church... then hung out at Tricia's after church and until the graduation ceremony. Again, so proud of Ash... and all of her friends too. It's nice to see her happy and we can only hope that she'll continue to be happy when she's at college pursuing her future. After the ceremony, we headed back home... I've said this before - being gone from home is a lot of work. I was pooped! Ryan tried to mow when we got home... but the storm came through, so he got about half done!! We just hung out tonight... and got the kids to bed at a decent time.

Ear Tubes for Cora
This morning was the day...
It was very similar to Kayson's 2 ear procedures... EARLY.
We needed to be at the surgery center at 6 am. Lord. Ryan and I got up great... sleepy, but good! Kayson actually got up well too - he heard my blow dryer, so he got up on his own... which was helpful. We didn't have to drag him out of bed!
I got Cora up about 2 minutes before we walked out the door... she couldn't have anything to drink, so I wanted to distract her from our normal routine.
We got signed in... and waited. That's the hard part... waiting... for about 50 minutes. Finally a nice nurse took Cora away... no tears, nothing. (OPPOSITE from Kayson - he screamed and screamed when he was swooped away!)
Anyway, the three of us waited in the lobby for about 4 minutes... talked with the doctor... waited about another 6 minutes, then saw Cora. She was upset... out of it. Poor thing. I hate that feeling. She looked pale and just scared... I put a bottle in her mouth and she sucked that down like it was going out of style! Once it was gone, she was pissed! ha. She was still a little out of it... but we got her in the truck... dropped Kayson off at daycare, then home we went.
Once we were home, she was back to normal... she seemed hungry, so I fed her some fruit and a little cereal... happy, talking, seemed to be doing great. I walked away and two seconds later, all of her food came up... BOO. We got that cleaned up... and she played. I guess she wasn't quite ready for that much food. I felt bad...
She's been resting now for about 2 hours... I'm guessing she'll be back to normal for the rest of the day. I'm doing this and that... and doing some work too... totally multi-tasking. :)
I hope these tubes make the fix we need. We go back in a month for a checkup...

Mom's Day
The kids (and Ryan) got me some great cards, beautiful flowers, and an item from my Mary Kay gal. Perfect. We enjoyed lunch at El Rodeo too... very nice.
It's a beautiful day out too, so that's even better. I hope to get a walk in after naps, and just hang out again tonight...
Overall, a nice day thus far. :)
I have a lot on my mind today... being a Mom and having a Mom who has Alzheimer's. I know I haven't spoken of this on the blog before... simply because it's something that's very concerning to me... and also private, but I also know talking about it helps. My Mom was diagnosed in January... officially. She's on medicine to 'help' it... I don't see her often enough, but my sisters say it has helped... reduces her repeating herself and questions. However, when I do see her, there's usually a lot going on (us being home - two little ones, along with getting everyone together), and I sometimes think that's too much for her. So when that happens, I personally think she has a 'bad' day. Anyway, we are getting through it... with lots of prayers and patience (something I need to work on A LOT). Either way, she's my Mom and I love her.
On to me being a Mom... it's by far the best thing that's ever happened to me. I have birthed two healthy babies and they are 'perfect' in their own little way. Kayson is feisty... very much a challenge for us lately, and I can only hope that he will just love me the way I love him. Cora is feisty as well! (How did I get TWO like that?!?!) She's our little sugar, and brings a new joy to us. I'm blessed to be their Mom!!
Here's to all the Momma's out there... I hope you were spoiled with hugs and love from your families.

I don't have much.
I don't have much to say... ha.
We are just hanging out tonight... no laundry, no real cleaning... just lounging. The kids went to bed really well - Cora can hardly make it to 7:30 some nights!!! We kind of had to skip a bath for Kayson tonight... Our water heater has been acting up from time to time, and tonight the pilot was off... so we had cold water. Kayson needed scrubbed... so we did our best. (He wasn't happy). Thankfully Ryan is in town, so a call has been made and we hope to have someone look at it tomorrow or Friday. I just hope I have a hot shower in the morning. I will be like Kayson - not happy if I have a cold one! :)
Anyway, we have a lot of kids we know graduating this year... My niece, Ashley; Ryan's cousin, Colby; and a few other friends' kids. I purchased a few gifts tonight... for the boys. They are easy. :) I still don't have anything for Ash. She (and her Mom) haven't given any ideas, and I really want to give her something she NEEDS for college. So... we'll be doing money I'm sure... and then help get her something when she moves, etc... or whatever.
Speaking of graduates, the Taylor's have to split up this weekend. Both Ash and Colby's Open Houses are this Saturday night... Cora and I will go to Clarion, Ryan and K will go to Creston. It's a big bummer, but that's just the way it goes. It'll be a short trip, but worth being home...
Um... I worked from home yesterday afternoon after meeting a good friend for lunch out west. (No reason to drive back downtown). It was a beautiful afternoon... so I took advantage, and read a bunch of QDROs and some other research material on the deck. Aaa heaven. I even got some sun. :)
Ok... I'm done for the night. No pictures... just babbling. :) G' Night!

Oooo... a little of everything
Last time I posted was Tuesday... Ryan was gone most of the week, home late Thursday night. I tried to keep busy this past week... which is good, but then exhausting too!
Wednesday evening, we hit up the mall for dinner and some playing... Nicky & Avery joined us. It's a lot of work with Avery and Kayson together... they are busy. They get SO EXCITED to be with each other!!! When that happens, ears don't work for either of them!! Of course now, we giggle about it, but Wednesday Nicky and I were wiped out!!! ha.
Thursday night my other friend Nikki came over after the kids were in bed... just to chit chat, and enjoy a glass of wine. That was super nice... and then Ryan was home around 9:15.
Friday we visited the ENT. We went with a different ENT than we did with Kayson. (I'm personally not a big fan of Kayson's ENT). Anyway, this guy seems very nice... friendly... normal... :) He said that Cora's ears are full of milky stuff - like jello. Gross. We are scheduled for tubes on Tuesday, May 14. More to come on that.
In the meantime... I believe I noticed it on Wednesday - Cora's two bottom teeth are coming in!!! I was so excited! :) Kayson had 2 or 3 teeth by now (1st tooth when he was 6 months old). Of course, I compare. :) But anyway, I was thrilled to see the little white teefers coming through! I can tell they are bothering her though... she's a little owly, needy and a low fever about once a day or so... So we'll just watch her. I'll be glad when we get the tubes in... I just hope to see some changes there.
Today Ryan had an all day meeting for work - in Omaha. So it was me and the kids. Soccer got cancelled due to the weird snow/rain and cold weather that Iowa is getting right now. So we did a few things this morning, then I let Kayson play at the mall again! He did pretty good. Both kiddos took a great nap, I did a little cleaning, but I did actually sit down... I think I snoozed a little too! :) Tonight we went to El Rodeo with Nicky and Avery just to get out... again, busy with those kiddos, but it was fine. Cora was tired and owly, but we made it through. She was in bed by 7:50... so Kayson and I played on the iPad a little and talked.
I'm thankful we have one more day at home... and that Ryan will be home! I think I'll leave him at home with the kids while I do a little shopping!?!?! :)
Here are a few pictures of my sweet kids. Love them.

Love them.
